YES! About time.
ThiS is The ProgressIVes firsT steP in Taking ouR biblEs and guns. StraiGHt out of Saul Alinsky’s PlaybooK.
Yawn. This has been discussed for months, and it ain’t gonna happen.
I’ve noted a few times that the Senate Majority Leader can bring up a motion to re-set the threshold to end debate (a cloture motion (i.e., end the filibuster)) on any measure from 60 votes to a simple majority. The presiding chair of the Senate (the person sitting in the ‘President’s’ chair) will then raise an objection on behalf of the entire body. The Senate body will then vote to either uphold the motion or strike it down. That requires a simple majority. If Schumer has 50 votes + VP backing him, his rule change goes into effect and then the Dems would simply clear the filibuster hurdle with 51 votes, and then proceed to a final vote. The final floor vote will require a simple majority.
This is what Harry Reid did in 2013 to end the 60 vote requirement for confirming judges and executive appointees. This is what Mitch McConnell did in 2017 to confirm Gorsuch, and later Kavanaugh and Barrett.
Now, McConnell has abused the filibuster to require 60 votes to even begin debate on a measure. So, Schumer would probably have to make this motion twice, at the commencement of the presentation and debate on the bill, and at the end of debate to proceed to a final floor vote.
Probably not, but I don’t see a downside to keeping up the pressure on Manchin anyway.
OT
Better prepare to get vaccinated too, GET. Biden’s door to door vaccinators will get you, if Ghosts can get jabbed.
Of course not. But let’s not be silly enough to think that this is a persuasive argument months and months after Manchin and Sinema have said no, they’d prefer to keep dry-humping the 60-vote threshhold.
Here’s the TRUE story of Biden’s “vaccination” tour.
Gut-check time for Manchin and Sinema. Talk (and editorials) are cheap. They will become pariahs in their party if they don’t compromise on eliminating the pain-free filibuster for voting rights. This has to be Biden cutting a deal with them.
And so many here seem to think that Eustace is some kind of satire…
They really are sending their most gullible and stupid, most annoying combo there is.
Someone should have a little talk with both of them, together. If someone wants to pay my airfare and hotel bills I’ll give it go.
I’d point out to them both that we don’t have some standardization on how to register to vote and methods of voting then we’re going to keep having state legislatures screw with who can and how will people will vote.
Besides this is not something that the two of them want their names to be remembered for.
The door to door campaign is really sneakier than that. All field personnel will provided with the Acme Instant Tattoo & Branding Machine.
Ding Dong!
Yes?
Hello Sir or Madam, I am from the government.

Thank you for your cooperation. Have a good day.
Yes! This!
Damn
Go read this, it’s crazy.
How do you confiscate Bibles when they’re literally all over the Internet? I mean….you can even get them upside down and backwards…
We gotta be careful about doing this or, when the other side gets in, they’ll be coming around for my 18th Brumaire… and collection of critical race theory.
