Clyburn Backs Boebert Committee Removal But Punts It To GOP

Neither of those things will happen.

Beat me to it I see. I agree.

Fine. I disagree, but even conceding that point, the R’s in congress have refused to police their own for years. They refused to check Trump for 4 years and gained seats in the House last election. Refusing to do the Dems’ job here is not going to hurt them and we need to stop pretending this is an issue we can use against them politically with any success. They should be stripping her of her committee seats because she shouldn’t be on committees.

It’s not politically clever to put this back to the R’s even if Clyburn’s 20th century instincts tell him it is. It just leaves her on her committees while the media ignores it and allows R’s to say, ‘if it were that setious, they’d have censured her like they did MTG and Gosar.’ I give it a day before CNN lets someone call it a hoax without any response.

It’d have to be a water pistol.

They will do exactly that.

For those wondering what “tacky” means, I got this from a bread blog:

STICKY: Pressing your hand in the dough, it sticks and stretches. When it does release, your hand is still covered in a fair bit of dough. This would be acceptable for soft doughs like Ciabatta.

TACKY: Although pressing your hand on the dough is still causing it to stick, it easily releases without leaving much if any dough on your hand.

I offer no opinion on whether it is tacky or not, as befits a gentleman of my age.

100% disagree. We don’t know the conversations b/w House leadership and the progressive caucus.

“conversations”? A House progressives is receiving death threats. Time to act, not get clever. ‘Clever’ gets you what, points?

Their constituents are aware. Some are not amused by them. They might not get re-elected. You don’t know. You just think you do.

Roiled? Revolting? (Boy, are they ever.)

I’m basing it on what has come before at least, not wishful thinking.

Btw, 59% of people polled have no opinion on Ms. Boebert. So even if they’ve heard of her, most don’t care.

Well, at least by trying to get GQP on it first, GQP can’t whine by saying they were never given a chance.

Boebert and people like her allow those with little interest/knowledge in/of policy to “keep up with politics”.

The former and people like her look at what we call antics as tradecraft…and, in so doing, maintain their audience’s approval.

I sincerely doubt anything geared to helping constituents would make it through the Performance Art.

Boebert’s district got redrawn from roughly (from memory) R+7 to R+15. She’ll hold that seat as long as she wants it.

There’s wishful thinking and then there is wishful thinking. Plenty of people wish things were worse.

@Txlawyer - maybe she will and maybe she won’t. The western slope is constantly changing because people keep moving in there from elsewhere. I used to live there part time - before that I spent every summer there from the time I was 18 months old.

For example, right before I bought in Taos in '07 the very first African American couple moved into Gunnison.

That’s true to an extent. How many people know who Reps. Meijer, Mace, and Gonzalez are? All of which come off as reasonably sane people who I’m quite certain the GOP would like to present as the future of the party/the real Republican Party (even though Gonzalez is retiring). I’m thinking many more know who MTG, Boebert, and Gaetz are. While most Republicans may think they’re great, most voters probably find them repulsive.

Absolutely. And they’ll do their worst whether or not they sit on committees. As long as they have the Conservative Entertainment Complex, speeches, and social media, they don’t need committee assignments to terrorize their colleagues. In fact, they don’t even do their worst in Congress. According to Rep. Omar, Boebert hides from her and looks away when she sees her.

As a resident of TX-32 for another 12.5 months, I can attest that it’s quite possible for a congressional district to swing from roughly R+15 to D+5 or so within the course of a decennial redistricting cycle. So maybe CO-3 will boot Boebert by 2028 or 2030. More likely, she’ll get bored and piss off to the NRA or whatever after a couple more terms.

Is the NRA looking for a less articulate Sarah Palin?

Well the western slope isn’t solid GOP. Even the tiny town I was in was not one way or the other - there were plenty of NRA members and GOP voters but there were also a large number of Democrats, mostly from California and Dallas originally. Lots of people with part time homes had plans to become full time legal residents when they retired.
