Clarence Thomas Released From Hospital

Thinking about it, he was between an (evil) rock & an (evil) hard place. To recuse himself, he would be acknowledging he was aware of her involvement. But their whole defense is that they lived ‘separate professional lives’ thus were unaware.

What reputation is he pretecting? We know he’s a hack and Republicans also think he’s a hack. No one other than Roberts thinks he’s an impartial jurist, and deep down JR knows he isn’t either.

My fantasy, he is ill enough that he leaves the court. Then Breyer agrees to stay on until a second Biden nominee is confirmed.

His recusal would have signal his realization that there was a problem. He decided that this vote was more important than recusal and that denial would be enough regardless of how it would hurt his and the court’s credibility.

There’s just no way Thomas would pass his confirmation hearings if he had to go through them again to retain his seat.

If you believe that then you haven’t been watching the past three nominees’ confirmation hearings. They’re just theater; the voters’ minds are set the day the nominee is named.

He wouldn’t have known that at the time he made the non-recusal decision. Recusing after you’ve already lost the vote would give the game away. In for a penny, in for a pound.

DOJ will have to make it clear whether or not it still holds this position, now that the former attorney general and his manipulations are gone.
