Civil Servants Under Fire From GOP In Bid For Control

It’s become so common that, by now, it’s almost expected.

Republicans, usually but not always armed with congressional subpoena power, single out a seemingly random bureaucrat as the face of an all-encompassing, nearly eschatological scandal.

“angry Democrats” who were bitter over losing the 2016 election
Angry maybe but at least they didn’t try to overturn the election that they lost!

There are few places where crap like this can be fed to a contrived audience. It is completely equivalent to MTG’s constant ravings for teevee exposure.

Dems in disarray
Fox libel defense at odds with top GOP presidential foes (msn.com)

In defending itself against a massive defamation lawsuit over how it covered false claims surrounding the 2020 presidential election, the network is relying on a nearly 60-year-old Supreme Court ruling that makes it difficult to successfully sue media organizations for libel.

Former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, two favorites of many Fox News viewers, have advocated for the court to revisit the standard, which is considered the foundational case in American defamation law.

Mike Pompeo, the former secretary of state under Donald Trump, appeared to criticize the former president’s administration on Sunday for adding $6 trillion to the country’s deficit.

FOX NEWS SUNDAY: Would a President Pompeo do a better job managing the deficit & debt than a President Trump did?

POMPEO: I think a President Pompeo or any conservative POTUS would do better.

FOX: Are you saying President Trump wasn't a true conservative?

P: $6t more in debt. pic.twitter.com/QR4QnnNslA

“potential ties to Russia, and alleged payoff to a porn star”

Why is TPM, of all places, using such mealy-mouthed language here? Trump certainly had ties to Russia, in business and likely in politics. I’m also sure that Michael Cohen did not pay Stormy Daniels for his own benefit.

Such bullshit from Republicans. As Josh has pointed out, there has never been a Democratic head of the FBI, ever.

It’s not just what it does to the people who get targeted, it’s what it does to everyone else in the system. And since the GQP party line keeps changing (not in big ways), no one knows exactly what to do that will keep them safe.

and alleged payoff to a porn star.

Michael Cohen was convicted because of this “alleged” payment. When is Individual One going to meet the same fate?

Fine goobers… beat up on those who to the heavy lifting that makes you look good.
Brilliant reelection tactic there.
Blow up your work support so you are revealed to be the incompetent lazy slugs you are.
Smart.

Potential pay offs to a porn star? Geeze…The checks went thru Michael Cohen and he went to prison for it. If I could figure how to size the check image to share it i have one from trump to Cohen for $35,000.

My impression of trumps latest bellowings to CPAC…

Most of the people the GOP is pandering to need the government.

So, Mattie is straightforward about his wish to control the enforcement arms of the government.
Presumably, he and his faction will now shut up about ‘fairness,’ eh.

To use a bizarre metaphor This is the lips talking, the snakes growing out of the head have other ideas.

Trump says the quiet part out loud, because his base is figuratively hard of hearing, they don’t do nuance too well, dog whistles are for dogs.

He gives them the good stuff, King of Retribution and all that, this is biblical stuff, that has got to disgust the sensible ones (if any are left). The Republican establishment has got to be cringing.

Reaping the whirlwind, good luck with that morons!

Didn’t the IRS engage in uncharacteristic and aggressive audits against Comey and others in the FBI hated by Trump?

There was so much corruption during the Trump presidency, both financially and in abuse of power, it seems the Dems still have ample avenues for investigative work if they so choose. Is there a Senate committee that can step up to that challenge?

Something full-on fascist. Again.
