ATLANTA (AP) — John Lewis, a lion of the civil rights movement whose bloody beating by Alabama state troopers in 1965 helped galvanize opposition to racial segregation, and who went on to a long and celebrated career in Congress, died. He was 80.
God speed, Mr. Lewis, the world will not soon forget your contribution to history.
Now if the Lord would just keep RBG alive for a little while longer…
Lewis Co-wrote a three-volume graphic novel Version of his autobiography. If you haven’t seen it yet, It’s worth a read. I was struck by how slow progress was, yet the movement persisted and eventually made great strides (although the work remains unfinished)
I am profoundly sad to hear this news. His memory will be eternal to all his family, friends, colleagues, and the rest of us who walked with him, and admired him. Such a great man and legacy. May he rest in peace.
