Could this be another attempt to overturn NYT v. Sullivan? I’ve read that is what is behind the lawsuits filed by Nunes. A belief that this Supreme Court might overturn the malice standard.
More likely, this is threat is intended to sooth the orange painted idiot. Filing frivolous retaliatory lawsuits was a favorite Trump game. Such a suit should be ripe for Rule 11 sanctions, but even federal judges in high profile lawsuits seem reluctant to enter sanctions.
Yeah that’s true on the face of it but it’s really pretty shocking to have a president threatening to sue the press for unfavorable coverage. Just emphasizes his complete disregard and ignorance of the constitution.
