Wonder if Biden made a phone call.

Called it. And I bet he didn’t get anything in return this time.

So, he demanded and got attention. Fine, good for him. Did he do anything with it OUTSIDE of the Caucus?

Like did he make a speech to the media while he had their attention? Slam the gop for their various bigotries, hate and greed and fecklessness?

Lol. Yesterday, someone in the Hive predicted that he’d drop out. Apparently there is history.

Edit: it was @txlawyer. Just saw his post.

ā€œI’m pleased and honored to continue serving,ā€ Clyburn told reporters. When asked about Cicilline’s challenge, ā€œI don’t think anything of it.ā€ he responded. ā€œHe told the caucus his issues, raising the issue of the LGBTQ+ community.ā€

Where’s the disarray?
This isn’t the Democratic Party I voted for.
Where’s the infighting? (ed.)
Who’s to blame? (ed.)
I want my disarray!

Was it really with Nancy still at the helm? Cicilline got what he wanted, his message was received.
ETA: I believe that is look a cat gives their person, when said person is blocking their sunlight.

Unfortunately your disarray is stuck on a barge in the Mississippi River. We’re sorry for the delay, and hope to deliver as soon as possible.

Psych!

Oh, the media will give it to you, all right. New York Times, the broadcast networks, etc. It’s their Continuing Storyline. I sure wish they’d cancel that show. It’s become tedious and boring.

He ran it up the flagpole. Probably got some assurances, satisfied he stepped aside. He’ll be back. The next generation of Democratic leadership is in the wings.

This drama is minimal, compared to the SOTH discussions. I’m sure nothing will come of that either.

Meanwhile, Qevin assumes he’ll be Speaker before the vote is taken. After all, it’s all he’s ever wanted. He should have it. He’s got Greene’s vote. Not sure about the other feral cats he’ll need to herd.

I eagerly await when Qevin fails to thread the needle and we get Speaker of the House Jeffries in January, even if only temporarily.

Er whut? How does Jeffries become Speaker? And if he did, he would remain Speaker for duration of the term.

Let me enlighten you from Josh:

Whatever voting present they do, McCarthy still has to get at least 213 votes because otherwise he will tie or lose to Hakeem Jeffries. That’s the lower bound. Whatever they do, McCarthy can’t get less than 213.

If too many of the MAGA Caucus or other Republicans vote ā€˜present’ to avoid voting for McCarthy, Jeffries could actually have a majority of the votes cast and, therefore, become Speaker.

I don’t expect he would. The one thing that could make the MAGA caucus do a 180 and vote for McCarthy is if a Democrat leads the Speaker vote. However, we could have a situation where Jeffries wins the first vote, Republicans panic and using a discharge petition forces a second vote, which McCarthy then wins.
