Chuck Todd Yells At GOP Sen. Ron Johnson During Stormy Interview

“Johnson barreled on, blaming the media for making the President and his supporters “upset” for covering the Ukraine scandal.”

He barreled on because they believe it and their supporters believe it and now they’re going to make everyone else believe it and it you don’t they’re going to treat you like a French goose and stuff it down your throat whether you like it or not.

Journalists need to put a stop to this “barreling on.”

I just watched the video - Toad did try to stop it in no uncertain terms.

It appears not only are career government workers reclaiming their country, but the media is stepping up as well. Almost like they’re being whistleblowers too -but publicly.

They’ve finally found their footing. When even Fox is not completely putrid…

Was I the only one who read the headline differently?

“And the truth is only when it benefits what you believe is politically comfortable with you?” the NBC News host asked. “I don’t understand: What truth are you looking for?”

That’s strikes me as near-incomprehensible. I mean, I take Chuck’s point to be that Johnson (and, by extension, Republicans in Congress) are insincere about this “search for truth” nonsense. But I feel like I’m meeting him more than halfway here.

I think so. It sure looks that way to me. Of course I have one of the worst colds I’ve ever had in my life (this is what happens when a toddler is more or less living with you) so I could be seeing things strangely but it looked pretty clear to me - Chuck yelled at him in no uncertain terms.

Syntactically it’s pretty garbled but the import—that Johnson and the rest of them simply deny that any inconvenient truth is in fact true at all—is clear enough. Trump has taken the rhetoric and spin so far in the direction of post-truthian authoritarian propaganda that it no longer fits in the framework people like Todd work in. And that means it will only work on people who already believe it. And that’s an interesting place to put yourself.

I believe most of what we see on TV is more or less scripted. I don’t think this comment was. Todd had had enough so he let it rip.

hahahahaha Not exactly. My goddaughter and her 20 month old daughter moved into our casita in August.

They’re fun at that age—but seriously exhausting.

For republicans it isn’t even a search for truth. I do believe that there is a degree of mass cognitive dissonance going on here, not unlike what you might find among cult members, which is what makes it all so scary and dangerous. This can’t be addressed through polite debate. It isn’t political. It’s pathological. These people are ill.

She’s too much fun and too damn sweet and it was all the loving and feeding me things and hanging on me on my birthday last week. She came down with this the next day and I knew I was doomed and this really is the suckiest cold I’ve had in years.

Think Chuck still believes in that "both sides"thing after this interview ?

No. And seeing that it was only Chuck “oh my, they woke him up” Todd and Ron “wait, I said what?” Johnson instead of Ms. Daniels was … slightly disappointing.

After years, even a couple of decades, of just handing over the Sunday talks to right wingers, it is about time that they be forced to answer questions and deal with truth when they are on air. Hopefully this will continue.

The Republican strategy is to stall, dawdle, hide, whatever, to prolong this so they don’t have to vote. That’s in line with WH stonewalling of course. The more WBs come forward (and bless them), the longer this will take to reach the Senate. We want them to have to vote, regardless of the outcome.
