Christie: Trusting WH On COVID Safety ‘Cost Me In A Significant Way’ | Talking Points Memo

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Friday pushed back on President Donald Trump’s lukewarm attitude toward mask-wearing after he was hospitalized for coronavirus days after failing to wear a mask at several recent White House events.

Republicans are kinda dumb. ‘Own yourself to own the libs’ seems to be their philosophy.

Still hasn’t endorsed Biden?

Then it didn’t cost him enough apparently.

I find it somewhat suspicious that Christie is AOK so quickly.

Instead of putting out statements Crispy Creme, tell it to your orange friend and get him to listen, or STFU. You were warned. Instead you ignored the science and the warnings. Blame yourself and that freak you continue to hold in such high esteem. You’re an embarrassment. I haven’t an ounce of pity for this man. He chose to endanger others, not just himself so fuck off.

It is astonishing to me that seemingly educated and “serious”people can be shocked when they stick their hands in an open flame and get burned. “I thought I was entering a safe zone” is one of the most insipid observations Imaginable. it’s been 8 months. WTF, did you just wake up from a coma?

I didn’t see the interview but did George S. ask Christie before you got infected who did you turn to for trusted info on COVID?
And as for Trump being OK with masks, then put the damn thing on. I haven’t seen the WH communications team send out photos of WH staff wearing them as they go about their job. I haven’t heard them say that Meadows as Chief of Staff has forbidden anyone to harass someone for wearing their mask. And we still haven’t had notification of when Trump’s last negative test was before he got infected. And the WH communications team certainly fell down on the job for being an example on how to safely have many people, in small crowed conditions be the example for businesses, schools, and universities for in mask wearing. Modeling safe practices goes a long way with showing leadership.

Still wants to be president. He’ll be running again in 2024, and can’t take the hit of rejecting El Jefe. This mild criticism over the handling of an epidemic that nearly killed both of them is just a mild way to separate himself from the rotting corpse of Trump’s presidency.

When Christie said ‘Cost me in s significant way’ I’d assume that he had to pay out the nose for the same treatments Trump got.

I wonder if this will change the Oval Trailer COVID-45 Master Strategery Plan?

Concern is mounting in Europe as countries smash records for daily coronavirus cases and the World Health Organization warns that the daily death toll on the continent could reach five times its April peak within months.

A particularly interesting part of the CNN article, as it has definite Donnie overtones:

The searches came as part of a judicial investigation into the management of the coronavirus crisis in France, a spokesperson for senior public prosecutor Francois Molins told CNN. The investigation into alleged “failure to combat a disaster” was opened following a number of official complaints by non-profit groups and a doctors’ collective.

$50 says Christie performs some sort of walk back and grovels at Trump’s feet, in the next 48 hours.

I think it’s unethical to have given such a scumbag any kind of medical aid when he’s a member of an organized criminal enterprise trying to take health care away from Americans.

They should have turned him away.

Here is how it cost him:

  1. it proves he is stupidly fat.
  2. it proves he is stupidly arrogant
  3. it proves that he has stupidly sacrificed his remaining integrity on the altar of Trumpism.
  4. he has no more space between him and Trump, making him politically radioactive forever.
  5. he has proved himself to be gutless and not an independent political actor. NJ does need dog catchers.

“When you have seven days in isolation in an ICU though, you have time to do a lot of thinking.”

Well, at least we now know how to structure civic responsibility courses for Republicans.

Christie doubled down on Friday, in an apparent challenge to Trump’s failure to enthusiastically endorse masking, by urging leaders to tell people “that there is no downside to you wearing masks and, in fact, there can be a great deal of upside.”

They’ve put tweets out with the usual suspects wearing masks and proclaiming it to be patriotic to do that.

The problem is that after Trump posted his post Walter Reed tweet (he was wearing a black mask and he didn’t have COVID), he was again saying that masks and face coverings don’t work.
