KaBoom! Zieglers are out of the mean kids’ table. That’s a shame, because they were not doing anything outside of acceptable adult fooling around, until Christian (A/K/A Diggler Ziegler) ignored the safe word. (NO!) And now tha Party that provided them such good cover has forsaken them for getting bad publicity. Oh well. Scarlet letters all around.
I wonder how long it’ll be before they wish they’d done more background checking on his replacement…
The Florida Republican Party has its standards: You will be fired if you get caught with sex tapes showing you raped someone. So, be careful with your tapes.
But if you are a certain person, you can rape a woman on 5th Avenue and not lose support.
or KKKaught
But you might be on the hook for $5M in damages.
Don’t know if it’s good or bad that he can’t actually goose-step like that.
Well, being the head of the FL R party means every single person you deal with is a deviant and a criminal. I’ll take the squares on the betting pool sheet marked necrophilia and cannibalism.
Replacement looks almost like the same guy. Do they have a warehouse full of these fascist bobble heads?
This guy is sittin there thinkin “But t**** does it all the time. He does it to underage girls. He does it in dressing rooms. WTF?”
Like this guy? (actually he’s more of a pagan neo-Nazi, but the Republicans have been moving in that direction)
“I do not want you to vote, so much as I want you to wake up. I want you to drop out and tune in. I want you to take LSD and practice sorcery. I want you to listen to trap music and black metal, to learn the law and to break it deliberately, to find your own religion. I want you to learn the use of firearms and subject yourselves to rigorous physical training. I want you to treat your bodies as Holy Temples and to take your girlfriend to a strip club so you can seduce a dancer in the back room. I want you to worship Nature and dance naked in the moonlight ‘round the fire, screaming in ecstatic joy. I want you to revolt. Raise Hell. Break your limitations. Renounce your life and go into the Wilderness, that God may speak to you of things to come.”

So which one of you lot pushed him to say it out loud? I’m proud of you, whoever it was.
The upshot is the same, either way - whatever was going on to delay the investigations, or if he was proceeding with “deliberate speed” the prosecutions were begun much too late to be meaningful (i.e wrapped up before the 2024 elections).
I read a column recently by someone who argued that DOJ had failed because Trump and his top deputies are not yet in prison.
It was the expression of someone who always had unrealistic expectations about how long white collar investigations take, even ignoring the delays overtly attributable in this case to Executive Privilege claims (which stretched from June 2022 to April 2023), other privilege fights (9 months for Rudy’s devices, longer for John Eastman’s, and still longer for Scott Perry’s, with a total of 25 witnesses invoking some kind of privilege), and litigation that would be inevitable when prosecuting the first former President (three months so far on the immunity claim).
Where the column made a decent point, though, is in the ethical response to Trump’s prosecution. Normally, if a politician were charged with 91 felonies on top of the several personally damning civil suits and two trials involving your eponymous corporation, it would be sheer insanity for any politician to have anything to do with the scoundrel.
Republicans don’t give a fuck anymore.

I believed that the January 6 Coup should have been prosecuted with the same vigor, rigor, and methods that were used for taking justice to the terrorists and organizations behind the 911 attacks. These are domestic terrorists who wanted to overthrow the election by assassinating the Vice President and Speaker. The United States brought to bear military, intelligence, and financial muscle and urgency to the 911 fight and I thought that we took a deliberate, legalistic, and genteel approach to the January 6 Coup terrorists. We had a bunch of national security enforcement approaches we did not leverage.
The Ziegler business comes on top of the Kristina Karamo defenestration in Michigan, a removal which she refuses to recognized.
I love these red-on-red fratricides, reminds me of Godzilla versus Mothra.
She read all the damn books and got corrupted. Oh…wait…
Between lez-curious GOP women, the publicly groping Boebert, nut-tanning Tucker Carlson followers, anti-abortion types obsessed with women’s plumbing, freaks legislating on public restroom use, and God-knows-what-all, I’m beginning to think conservatism is basically an outward projection of sexual kinks.
I don’t know. I heard somewhere that there was evidence that might exculpate Christian and Bridget Zeigler in the rapey activities that they are accused of. The Florida Republican Party should have given these folk due process and let the investigation play out. If Christian Zeigler is exonerated, this might be a romp not much worse than the things Matt Gaetz did with daddy’s money on Venmo and Lauren Bobo did in Beeetlejuice.
My immediate thought too; I don’t think I would be able to tell them apart even if they were both in the room with me.
One of the most interesting differences between the Finnish presidential election, which is in its last phase over the next couple weeks, and the US election, is the discussion about the rights of children. Children may not vote, but they have rights. The rights of children are discussed across the political spectrum in Finland, but “Three-way or the highway” is what sells in the US.
