Christian Today Editor Says He’s Troubled By Fellow Evangelicals Who Won’t Call Out Trump

I know. She did it over and over.

At a minimum, he made some people uncomfortable. Which is helpful. He did not just call out Donald Trump…

Worried

not surprised

All Xtians care about is turning America into a theocracy and they will gladly use a tool who breaks all 10 commandments and lives the 7 deadly sins to accomplish that.

We must resist and stand up to these MAGATS!

I think your point about staying home is an important one. They wouldn’t vote for a Democrat if he was nailed to the cross, but if the stain of Trump is on their hands they’ll just sit on them and stay home.

13,000+ lies later…

Golden Calf or Golden Rule?..It’s a toughie.

(Btw, Happy Chanukah, Irasdad, and to all my fellow Yids enjoying the holiday tonight. Yeah, Mattathias was a badass.)

Let’s never forget that “Christian values”, at least for Trump voters, doesn’t mean “anti-abortion”.

Sure, “White evangelicals” oppose choice and marriage equality and LGBT rights and Islam…

But it’s been well-documented that even after Roe v. Wade, they remained largely apolitical.

It wasn’t until the tax-exempt status of segregated religious schools vanished that they woke up to politics. (See: Bob Jones University v. United States, 461 U.S. 574.) Then, suddenly, the “Religious Right” and “Moral Majority” burst on the scene.

There’s a reason 99% of “White evangelicals” opposed impeachment – while 86% of “Black Protestants” disapprove of Trump.

Racism was originally at the heart of the “White evangelical” affair with the GOP, and it continues to be their unifying principal.

The other stuff? Sure, it helps – but it’s (mostly) window dressing.

What would you expect, Mr. Galli? Your entire business plan depends on ignorant leaders telling ignorant people what God wants. Why would you be surprised that they accept the king of ignorance over you? Donald Trump is closer to “the flock” than you are.

If you’re ever interested in getting beyond a cartoon parody of what the Christian faith actually teaches, you might check out how penance works, or what Scripture actually says about it.

And don’t forget, he does not credit the rest of us for catching on to Cheeto’s bad character sooner than he did. In fact, he continues to vilify us for that.

I’m going to take a wild guess and say that he hasn’t been invited to discuss his article on FOX.

Love your screen name! But there’s a remedy, you know.

As a matter of fact, most Protestant sects do not have penance in the organized way that Catholics do. And many of them discourage real education and critical thinking. To quote my grandmother “seminary ruins the faith of preachers”.

For many decades, many of us have been calling this magazine Yesteday’s Christianity Today. It probably is the best of the the evangelical journals, but that is (please pardon the expression, given the context) to damn with faint praise.

Where have these people been? They should never have supported trump. After all the lies and corruption, after “pussy grabbing”, after buddying up to Putin and Kim, after everything else they still voted for him and supported him…

A good part of my extended family is evangelical, as are a some of my closest friends. I am not religious. I have no idea how they manage to be functioning adults living under a regime of such cognitive dissonance.

Most important thing here. This is self-preservation.

Don’t forget “God can use even an ‘imperfect vessel’ to achieve his will.”

Though why his “will” would involve ugly Christmas trees, Ivanka, and dirty dealing with Ukraine, I could not tell you.

IMPOTUS referred to it as ET when it’s CT and said he wouldn’t be reading it anymore. It is to laugh.
