You do you, China. Just do you.

First, it’s legitimate to say that their case load is suspiciously low. But that being said, it’s pretty much the case that they’ve whacked this in China.

China has one standout asset. They are a totalitarian country. In New Jersey, the governor puts up signs on electronic highway messaging boards to the effect of “Don’t Be A Knucklehead.” This is a very NJ framing. In China, they take you into custody. For the most part, they don’t even bother with re-education camps (these would trend to spread disease, and it’s not like pro-democracy protests so they don’t feel a need to do dissident-smashing; they just want them off the streets. They also have a population that doesn’t mind. On top of all that, they have testing that works and could easily commandeer resources (ventilators, masks) and were very creative about finding space. Oh yes, being a totalitarian country, they re-opened the Stalin era manual of civilian travel controls and proceeded to isolate Wuhan province.

Of course, South Korea also knocked it down as did Taiwan. Europe is more disorderly (I’m excluding Britain which is no longer part of Europe) but if Italy can do it, the pandemic can be dealt with.

The United States is now officially off the global leadership list. We’d be the laughing stock of the world except that the death rate is no laughing matter. All we’ve got going for us are nuclear weapons and more aircraft carriers than the rest of the world combined. Sad to report that Sidewinder missiles are not effective cures for Covid-19.

China has controlled this disease enough that they are not afraid to re- open.

And they did this with no notice whatsoever from anybody that this pandemic was coming.

So far no more digging of mass graves has been seen.

The information you are relying on about China comes from Trump.

I rest my case.

What? It comes from my experiences IN CHINA and it’s been known for a long time. Long before Trump. You’re positioning China as a competent and caring nation. That’s Trump’s take and it’s bullshit.

Are you kidding me? You flagged a post?

I have nothing against China, and I sure don’t want to start some sort of conspiracy theory. That said, in the past, countries worked together against a pandemic. Today, it is more like every country for itself. Masks and ventilators slated for countries are redirected, the World Health Organization is ignored (at least by the US), blame is spoken rather than solutions, and we judge countries by the number of “cases”.

It is perhaps that China found a way to treat or… dare I say it… prevent the virus? Maybe we should ask for help instead of building a bigger wall between us? Or are we too proud to beg for help?

Sad to say, I’d still believe China far more than I’d ever trust Trump or the GOP.

And I don’t trust China.

Sure did. Stereotype much? There was a theory in the popular literature in the Seventies called culture shock. It posited that folks sojourning in a foreign country often went through a period where they loved it followed by a period where they loathed it. Folklore possibly but you sure seem to be in the latter stage.

You do know that the density of New York City is considerably higher than that of Wuhan? You seem to be attributing character flaws to,people living in such conditions. Was that your intent?

To flag you have to see material that violates TPM terms of service not your feelings.

Let me ask…do you have multiple TPM addy’s? Be honest.

Stereotype…the 70…and culture shock. Do you have any idea who you are talking to? I grew up in Europe and then came to America at 27 years of age. In the 70’s. That’s when I read that book ( given to me by my mother ) Tell me all about culture shock? I’ve spent considerable time in China my friend…and you? If so tell me all about your experiences. I agree with the US Government’s assessment that China is a currency manipulator, steals intellectual property with abandon and has a hostile military agenda. Its government censors everything and lies about everything as well. I saw that when I WAS THERE? What did you see?

“you do know” is always a snide entry. But it’s OK for you…right?

Now lets dig in. “You do know” that NYC is America’s epicenter of COVID mortality. It’s population is similar to the urban population of Wuhan. The greater metropolitan population of Wuhan is twice that of Metro NYC and spread over a bigger area ( I’ve not been to Wuhan but I’ve been to NYC a shit load of times ) . Insofar as inner urban density they’re not that far apart. So what is your point? We have truthful info from NYC and likely BS from Wuhan. What is your point?

“you do know” that I was speaking of all of China and all of the USA…not two cities you cherry picked. “you do know” that? We probably have less than a complete data set for the USA due to poor testing and political cover but we darn sure know we aint got jack out of China we can believe.

Now flag this. Log out…log back in and flag again under another ID. ( Gotta get that multiple thing going ) I imagine TPM can look at their logs and detect you doing so. I’ll ask.

Inappropriate flagging.

Also some serious lack of self-awareness. You are diagnosing @richardinjax 's mental state based on your memories of “a theory in the popular literature in the Seventies.”

One of the things that totalitarian nations in general exercise tight control over is information, and China has continuously demonstrated that they are not an exception. China is also in the midst of a global PR campaign to contrast their capability in dealing with the virus against the near-total mishandling of the effort by the Trumpp administration.

Seriously, WTF?
