Chicago FBI Head Ousted; Official Account Claims He Wasn't 'On Board' With Trump

Originally published at: Chicago FBI Head Ousted; Official Account Claims He Wasn’t ‘On Board’ With Trump - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Good morning!  For the next few months (at least), I’m going to be posting a few stories every morning that TPM reporters are closely tracking. We’ll still be doing Morning Memo, our flagship daily newsletter, too. While Morning Memo captures all the stories you need to know, the yet-to-be-named thing you’re reading here will focus…

With the FBI completely corrupted and compromised, who will have the standing and resources to pursue Trump and the MAGAs when they attempt to steal the elections in '26 and '28?

State governments? Town governments? It’s not enough. WTF is happening here?

Thanks for the Bill Moyers. It highlights progressive politics and what the right has been fighting since before FDR.

Moyers was right but there is also the reactionary opposition and they don’t tend to give up either.

… you’ll see that the relationship of libertarians, Christian fundamentalists, Birchers, and other radicals was less contentious than synthetic. … because they all came out of the same Big Bang of hatred for the New Deal and its legacy: Big Government and the coalition that sustains it – blacks, gays, unionized workers, women, et alia. Each conservative tribe has its own relationship to that legacy … But …many of them have learned that it would be more effective …to strike at the state that enables that coalition than at the minorities themselves.

Hatred is a potent spur and their gloves are pretty much off at this point.

Eh, if anything this makes it easier. Trump & Co. have created several military divisions worth of competent, professional public servants who’ve been sacked, insulted, and aggrieved. What we’ll need is a Democratic Congress with the resolve to pass a budget large enough to hire them all back and ready to slap down a SCOTUS which will inevitably try to run interference.

There have been a few displaced workers that have come together to re-create what they were working on. I think one is with the climate change folks?

Nothing gets through if they don’t get both houses. I’m not sure what will happen. The web says it’s a toss-up.

The Foreign Emoluments Clause states that " No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under [the United States], shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State”.

When the Qatar plane gift came up last year, Jamie Raskin even offered a bill:

There was a lot of discussion about this violation a year ago, but now as the US celebrates a big number, I think I must have missed the “Consent of Congress” part. Is it that he hasn’t actually accepted the plane?

Here’s hoping that TPM can publish a couple of the obituaries they have filed away ‘just in case’ soon.

Evidence that this government - thing can’t be trusted to do anything right:

Funny how the right’s usual suspects aren’t generalizing from this evidence of incompetence to the regime at large.

So what murder rate is the FBI referring to in their tweet? The significant majority of murders fall under state jurisdiction. Seems like a really weird thing for them to say, though unsurprising given their current leadership.

And how exactly can any LEO agency prevent murders? Unless they’re running a precog unit like The Minority Report, aren’t they always called in after the death?

“On July 4th, it’s going to be approximately 107 degrees out, and I’m going to go and I’m going to make a really long speech … just to show that I can do anything. It’s going to be 107,” Trump said.

With any luck he’ll join John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe by casting off his mortal coil to mark the occasion.

Fingers crossed, folks.

Note: Adams, Jefferson and Monroe died on the 4th of July.
