That’s what I would have guessed.

“I think that we’ve got to have leaders who lead based on principle”

I don’t know, Liz. Did you have someone in mind? 'Cause I’m stumped.

“I don’t think anybody is questioning the legitimacy of the presidential election,” he told reporters after a meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House last week. “I think that is all over with,” he said.

Perhaps it’s time for another social call at Mar-a-Loco, Mr. Speaker.

McCarthy is going to learn the hard way the meaning of Lindon B. Johnson’s saying “I rather have him in pissing out, that out pissing in”.

“As we’re engaging in these battles about principles and the future and standing up for truth, I think that these battles really are being fought out in the House,” Cheney said.

Translation: Mitch McConnell is a much more effective leader than Kevin McCarthy, and he can actually control his caucus rather than look away while the radicals grab the steering wheel and drive off a cliff.

The January 6th U.S. Capitol Tourist Society begs to differ.

Liz’s statement is self-evident, but I like it that she is speaking out almost daily.

If Mitch McCarthy doesn’t get Speaker it is going to be because of his treatment of Liz Cheney; and not because her vote would make a difference.

It is widely accepted that some of the suburban districts like mine, the GA 6th and the 7th next door, that were reliably republican went democratic mostly because educated women abhorred Trump. Mitch needs those districts back if he wants to be Speaker, does he really think that by sacrificing an educated woman at the altar of the Golden Trump is going to convince the defecting voters to return to the GOP fold?

Hopefully a non-existent contigency. There are other “if’s” more interesting…like her political plans.

McCarthy parses his statements so much that they’re actually worthless and mean nothing at all. Like himself.

By ousting her, he has also loosened her tongue.

Of course. McCarthy is a liar and a fraud and all for himself. WHY would ANYONE vote for him…but I think that with Trump too. He lies, he throws out ‘slogans’, he insists he’s not to blame when nothing happens, he destroys peoples careers because they don’t play his game and then he steals from you. WHY would anyone vote for HIM??? There is something seriously wrong with the Republicans.

Sadly, Fox “News” gives the uninformed and the susceptible many reasons to vote for idiots like McCarthy. Inanity, stupidity, obfuscation? That makes big money for Fox, while the country goes downhill for want of people with principles.

Might be behind the paywall*, but a great opinion piece by Perry Bacon Jr. regarding leading anti-Trumpers such as Rep Cheney https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/05/17/dangerous-identity-politics-anti-trump-republicans/
While I applaud their stance, they won’t take the step: supporting Dem pols, that would really make a difference.

Isn’t that the same thing?

Of course, Mitch is as radical as they come, but yes, he’s in control.
