Cheney Slams Scalise For ‘Perpetuating’ Big Lie: It’s An ‘Attack’ On ‘Constitutional Republic’ | Talking Points Memo

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) rebuked her former fellow GOP leader, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), on Sunday for upholding ex-President Donald Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen (it wasn’t).

"Republicans have a duty to tell the American people that this is not true.”

You’re right, LIz, they do. Unfortunately, only two of them feel compelled to respect this duty.

Sadly, the people that need to hear this the most, will never hear it on Newsmax or OAN.

Incredible how much these people will lie to appease and support Trump. I don’t think they actually believe in Trump but they don’t want to lose the White Supremacist ‘vote’. It’s sad and sick.

Darth Cheney must be really confused about his daughter developing a proto-soul…

Scalise is playing to a propagandized cult, and he’s leaving room for shifting his stance.

His hedging is an indication of that.

Cheney is right to keep hammering him.

It’s An ‘Attack’ On ‘Constitutional Republic’

Why, YES, it is … that is exactly what Scalise intends it to be!
Scalise actually hopes it is an attacking shot that hits the " Constitutional Republic" right in the aorta …

Trump wanted / wants to be a totalitarian autocrat like Putin & the mob of sycophants like Scalise embrace it because they are fixated on the idea that Trump totalitarianism will be the only viable path to dictatorially imposing white supremacist fundamentalist Christian conservative minority rule on a more and more diverse American population.

Rep. Cheney may as well lob a few at Grassley too. Link below is about Sen. Grassley, Rep. Hinson, Rep. Marionette, and Gov. Reynolds worshiping at the House of TMFWWNBN.

Grassley was beaming as TMFWWNBN endorsed Grassley for re-election. Grassley said "If I didn’t accept the endorsement of a person with 91 percent of Iowa’s Republican voters, I wouldn’t be too smart." When the Mueller report released, Grassley said it absolved TFG. It’s clear that Grassley is an eager liar at any time, if it serves his purpose at the moment.

To Grassley, it was “smart” to accept the endorsement of TFG, who still repeats the same falsehoods that led to January 6 violence which caused Grassley to hide in fear.

TFG’s same songs - dangerous election lies - at his Iowa rally include that TFG won “by a lot” in 2020, to lying that the results of Arizona audit support his false claims. Those lies include “First of all, Biden didn’t get elected, OK?” The crowd responded to Trump’s buffet of lies by chanting, “Trump won! Trump won!”

What did Liz Cheney or anyone else expect from a man who claimed to be “David Dukes without the baggage” which by definition is a klansman with the hood still covering his face/yet to reveal himself.

The point being when are we going to stop pretending that these deplorables are anything else than deplorables. A better question to Cheney who for a long time did support Donald Trump is, are you surprised.

I mean Liz drawing the line at insurrection just makes her less deplorable.

There is one thing Liz Cheney won’t do and oddly for a politician it involves lying. Little ones that serve her purpose …sure. But the continual whopper that severely damages the country? Ummm …no. she apparently has limits as to her dishonesty and for that one thing I commend her. She is way too far to the right for my taste otherwise.
As you say…a “proto-soul”.
John McCain was kinda similar to me. I seriously disagreed with his rightward way but otherwise he was really civil in our meetings and was quite willing to listen to my ventings. He defended Obama in a town hall by stopping a lady;s screed then correcting her by telling her Obama was a good and decent guy and a family man and that they just disagreed on politics.

“Given the range of structural factors weighted against them – electoral college, gerrymandering, Big Lies, etc. – their only hope is to mercilessly review their policy wishlists, choose the ones that poll really well and shut up about the rest.” ~ Josh Marshall

Democrats must hone their message and get shit done. We may not get another chance at this. It’s Do or Die now. Unify the party and stay on message. If we lose ground in '22 and '24 it’s going to be another tough slog.

You have to ask…just how effective could Representative Scalise be in a time of true national crisis if the solution to that crisis was offense to his politics. Would he try to lie us out of that crisis ( like he’s lying about Trump )? Let’s not fool ourselves Scalise knows damn well Trump lost. But he’s willing to continue a lie that is damaging our democracy’s soul.

Not sure our Founders had that in mind when they conceived Article 1.

Liz just might survive:

Ms. Cheney’s current political troubles in Washington may not translate to an election loss next year, Professor King said, because in Wyoming, where the Republican primary almost always decides the election, residents of any political affiliation can register as Republicans on Primary Day, which means Ms. Cheney could draw significant numbers of independents and Democrats.

The large number of challengers may also work in her favor, he said, because Wyoming has no runoff elections, so the challengers could split the vote, and Ms. Cheney could win with even a slim plurality.

I’ve never imagined I would be be cheering for her to win.

Don’t overcook this. Scalise and most Rs are being pushed by their voters and realize what a raving, frothing mob they are. There isn’t any large scale, and certainly from the Mob’s standpoint, platform about racial supremacy or fundamental xtianity or minority rule or corporate angle. It is just purely about fear and losing power. They see Libs as the enemy, and in that regard at least…they are not faking. They think ‘the enemy’ is going to control this country and will say or do anything. They don’t have a coherent cognizance of whether Libs are muslims or catholics or atheists. Or whether the Libs are white or brown or yellow or red. Or male or female. They are unthinking and unreasoning. They don’t have a stable or even stated platform. It is mob fear, mob rule and they will say ANYTHING at this point.

I am sure that all states had some departures from explicit state legislature election laws in their recent past. But Scalise and his ilk never thought it was worth going to the mat for those elections, just this one. And of course, we all know, that all the departures or irregularities would be found to be R ratfugging if they were scrutinized. Dangerous, dangerous scumbags. These people don’t have a platform, or any real foundation and that makes them the most dangerous. They don’t have to state what they want or stand by it…they can just blow with the wind and make up their excuses as they go along. If they actually had stated goals and platforms…they would have to then be held to some account for what they stated. Oh wait, these are Rs they don’t even have to honor what they themselves have said.
