Let’s see how she votes on MTG.

We only have the privilege of arguing over policy after we first defend democracy. Liz Cheney is apparently my ally in the latter. Weird foxhole, but here we are.

Sure, I think we all see that the result was different than a public vote would have been. That’s my point. Obviously in this one they were voting as they really thought, except for that one who voted “present” OMG pathetic.

Maybe he/she was just happy to be there. “Present!”

Ouch…

Nope. Make them go on the record forever as cowards and traitors.

They wouldn’t convict if were secret, anyway. They would all be primaried if they did. Probably will, anyway. So, they’re fucked all ways. Make them go on record to acquit.

A bunch will claim they voted “present.”

You know how we, meaning I, assumed there would be lines they wouldn’t cross until they near-unanimously crossed almost all of them? This is a line and a non-crosser. She said you can do what you like, I’ll sacrifice for this, but I’m not crossing that line. I already knew the percentage of people in this world with real guts is not high. But if there’s one quality you want for a foxhole-mate, that’s a good one.

It looks like Matty and Margie backed the wrong horse.
It looks, however, like their insurgency is gonna linger until their favorite is no longer able to race.
Not that I mind: internecine strife among the reactionaries rarely darkens my day.

Yeah. Searched the conscience and found no strong feelings either way re attacking Congress. Gray areas!

So if the Impeachment vote had been secret, would the result have been 145 for as well?

Matt Gaetz is Aaron Schock 2.0. Just sayin’…

It’s an interesting question and would provide a measure of that party’s fear of the Drumpfsters.
On the positive side, it’s a clear measure of the diminution of the influence of Donny and his allies, which is a positive outcome, IMHO. The sooner Mango Menace is packed off to jail and/or obscurity, the better for the country overall.

The secret “Present” vote was probably Kevin McCarthy.

any chance the Senate can have a secret vote in the impeachment trial?

For a windsock, he has a remarkably poor comprehension of the way the breeze is blowing.

The conference voted 145-61

  1. Or about 29%. Slightly larger than Trump’s lunatic base.

(Q-FL). FiFY.

ETA @valgalky23 beat me to it. Eastern time zone?

Great. Relatively sane Republican votes prevailed. Now…can we quit pretending that Liz is some kind of moderate? She is a severely conservative member of Congress that voted the correct way…once.
