Cheney Jabs Trump After Bizarre Photoshop Attack: ‘I Like Presidents Who Win Re-Election’ | Talking Points Memo

True. But Alito, Thomas, and Kavanaugh have voiced an openess to overturning state voting laws in contravention to state constitutions and established statutes should the opportunity present itself. So if the election had come down to a few thousand votes in one or two states, they might have pulled a Bush vs. Gore. It didn’t happen, but the RWers on SCOTUS have shown themselves to be pretty sketchy when it comes down to even the basics of the constitution and the laws.

Hear! Hear!! Couldn’t agree with you more!! :scream:

Lately, I’ve noticed that 1/2 the “news” and stories are about pathetic-donald. He is once again engineering himself into the spotlight and getting Enormous free publicity and everyone is falling in line.

He keeps himself front and center of everything – and there is a ton of cooperation out there. Click bait maybe or revenue. (Books like Peril ) $$$$ $ick of him.

Just like 2016 - billions of dollars of free publicity and advertising and being a household word.

It’s a dilemma. Trump’s con is to keep himself in the spotlight. Turn off the mainstream media spotlight, however, and only the non-mainstream media, i.e. propaganda channels, will cover him, in which case there will be no honest coverage. But news is news, and it makes no sense to let it go unreported.

We can’t micromanage this. We need to flood the Trump phenomenon with disinfecting light. If our institutions don’t hold, then, as the presidential historian John Meachum has suggested, perhaps our society does not have the means to self-perpetuate as a democracy. That’s either a tautology or the hard truth.

If our institutions do hold, which boils down to the people in these institutions holding the line, then, eventually, we’ll dig ourselves out of our hole and stop it up with the evil-doers.

He stepped down for the 2018 election.

Didn’t realize he’d re-upped in 2020.

Haven’t heard Peep 1 about him, unlike his first tenure.
