This is why we should have hope in the future of America…average people sending a judge emails demanding that the government they are working for follow the law is the kind of thing that gets swept under the rug with all the high visibility political maneuvering, but it’s what this nation is founded on. The Census takers are real heroes for standing up like this and making sure that their civil service job is done correctly and completely. They are just temporary workers, but obviously they feel strongly about American democracy and freedom, and know how critical the Census is to that.
It’s a message of hope in a world where we are all afraid that Republicans and Trump will try to cheat in the election or overthrow our democracy. They may try, and they may temporarily succeed, but they will never be victorious as long as the majority of Americans are willing to speak up for our freedoms.
Why the fuck aren’t they going for contempt? Put Wilbur’s old ass for jail and tell him he can purge his contempt by doing all of those things and I guarantee you they will get done.
Koh is holding a hearing on Friday to determine whether the Trump administration violated her order by putting out a statement that Oct. 5 was a target date for ending the census or whether it should be held in contempt.
