Since writing this, VP Vance is re-writing the Nixon scandal. He said the “deep state” and not GOP senators got rid of Nixon. More history laundering.

What an asshole.
I was a witness to that bit of history (in the sense that I was alive and paying attention–I wasn’t there in person). A delegation of Republicans led by Barry Goldwater went to the White House and told him he would be impeached (soon) and he would be convicted in the Senate. Hugh Scott and Rep John Rhodes were also in the delegation. Bob Dole wasn’t in the delegation, but he publicly said that Nixon had no more 20 votes for acquital.
Shady Vance apparently thinks that Congressional staffers carrying out the direction of their Committee Chairs and Ranking Members amount to the Deep State. Not so, Shady. As with so many other things, Shady is utterly clueless.
Republicans went to the White House and told Tricky Dick that the jig was up and he needed to resign for the good of the party and the nation. That was how it went down, Shady.

Moi aussi, We actually had some GOP reps with a modicum of honor.

Maybe a bit off topic, but I heard some guy on TV who is part of the group fighting GOP group trying to rig election say that the trumpers don’t care about who likes them. Why? They believe that one way or another the elections are in the bag with chicanery.
