I live in Henan Province, China. It is next to Hubei Province, where Wuhan is.
We have had no cases in our 100 million person province since early March. We had a very strict lockdown and tracing system over 6 months ago.
The tracing system was based on where you lived - you gave your personal information. Then, you had to scan a QR code on your smartphone to leave your home. It had to be “green” to leave. “Yellow” meant you needed testing. “Red” meant quarantine.
Once you left your home you would have to scan your code to enter any store or building - anything indoors. So you were traced everywhere you went. If you went somewhere where there was a case, you go “yellow” and get tested. This is how it worked here. It was successful.
Michele Heil and her husband take three trips a year to Las Vegas, where they are regulars at El Cortez Hotel and Casino on Fremont Street. The couple lives in central Illinois, where Heil said she is a social worker who does health care administration.
There’s a Michele Heil who, in 2013, was promoted to " the director of health services for Meadowbrook Health Center at the Clark-Lindsey Village continuing care retirement community in Urbana." https://jg-tc.com/business/business-briefs-michele-heil-promoted-at-health-center/article_6c1d2020-d47d-11e2-8321-0019bb2963f4.html
If this is the same person, and if she’s still working at a retirement community, I hope at the very least she is told to quarantine upon her return. If she worked in my Illinois county, she’d have to.
During the four-day period, about 26,000 devices were identified on the Las Vegas Strip. Some of those same smartphones also showed up in every state on the mainland except Maine in those same four days.
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that Maine is the only state where the case trend has been going in the right direction for the past month.
