The Trump administration walked back, slightly, from recommendations designed to limit access to COVID-19 testing on Thursday, after the administration’s top public health official said that he was under anesthesia when the changes were approved.
Robert Redfield, Brett Giroir and Deborah Blix should all be fired and have their medical licence revoked … and sued for malpractice… and have their pets taken away too
When a mob boss orders a hit, the guys who pull it off are far from blameless. Anyone who participated in this travesty deserves to get shitcanned for their complete lack of integrity.
While the stock market continues to soar…47% of US employers expect to make additional staff cuts in the next 12 months, according to Randstad RiseSmart COVID-19 Employer Survey
On Thursday, Redfield was careful to toe Trump’s line, even saying – falsely – that “Everyone who needs a Covid-19 test, can get a test.”
The Hill notes that Trump is achieving his goal of less testing.
“After reaching a peak of nearly a million new tests a month ago, the number of tests conducted on a daily basis has declined to fewer than 700,000 over the last four days, according to data maintained by the Covid Tracking Project, an independent group of researchers.”
Brett Giroir told an NPR interviewer a month ago the administration was committed to 100 million tests a month, BY SEPTEMBER. The journo expressed marked skepticism at that goal and called him out on it, with Giroir pushing back and reinforcing it was a decided, serious, achievable goal and would be done.
“Giroir was bullish on the potential of newer testing technology to expand the country’s ability to test quickly. He said fast point-of-care tests can help solve the problem of overburdened laboratories and could aid in the reopening of schools and businesses in the fall.”
“Certainly by September, we expect to have 15 to 20 million point-of-care tests. That’s as many tests as we’re doing every month now,” Giroir said, adding that the administration wants to see 100 million tests per month happening then.
These people lie so goddamned much they can’t keep track of it all.
I had an instructive talk with my doctor the other day about all of this. He told me that they would only be testing people with COVID symptoms–no one without symptoms could get a test. However, there is one exception: all the day surgery patients at the hospital are required to get a test before their procedure. Doc told me somewhere between 20 and 30 percent of those patients test positive without showing any symptoms, and may have exposed dozens of people before coming for their procedure. How is this supposed to help contain the infection rate? These people at the top seriously do not care about getting this pandemic under control…
That call came amid reports that the guidance change was pushed on the CDC from the “top down.” Giroir pushed back on that, saying that Dr. Fauci and others signed off on the recommendations.
What recommendations is Giroir saying Fauci signed off on here? I thought Fauci was under anesthesia when the new policy was approved.
Yesterday I read that only 12% of Americans own stock (that is mostly because of the sharp downturns we have seen over the last few years; when it goes down it goes DOWN) because they are all busted out.
So these 12% of Americans are seeing this rise but the rest of us are still fucked.
