I don’t know why local governments are sitting around waiting for the abbreviated dumbed-down cartoon version of the CDC guidelines for reopening that the White House censors released today when they can get the real ones themselves with a click or two. Here, I’ll do it for them:

"The CDC originally also authored a document for churches and other religious facilities, but that wasn’t posted Thursday. The agency declined to say why.

Early versions of the documents included detailed information for churches wanting to restart in-person services, with suggestions including maintaining distance between parishioners and limiting the size of gatherings. The faith-related guidance was taken out after the White House raised concerns about the recommended
restrictions."

No need for guidance here. The ‘Chosen One’ will watch over those who believe in and vote for him.

Remember when we used to be able to count on the CDC to, y’know, control disease? Under trump, their mission seems to be the opposite.

So what does the edited “guidance” say? “Woohoo, everybody get out there and hug and kiss each other”?

On Thursday, a Trump administration official also speaking on condition of anonymity said there were concerns about the propriety of the government making specific dictates to places of worship.

Yes - you put religion in government NOT government in religion. That’s like making an inside-out Reeses Peanut Butter Cup - terribly messy!

It’s only a matter of time until Trump puts Cliff Huxtable in charge of the CDC.

There is no guidance on earth that will make in-person indoor group services safe, unless that guidance is “don’t”. Outdoors might be possible with 10-12 foot distancing, and making sure there are no choke points at assembly and dispersal, and ushers to break up any pre/post service chitchatting.

there were concerns about the propriety of the government making specific dictates to places of worship.

FFS, they get the same fire code requirements that everyone else does.

They did this to placate the Evangelicals who Trump DESPERATELY needs to vote for him in November.

He doesn’t DARE do anything that might piss them off, even slightly, so, here we are: No guidelines for Churches AT ALL.

Remember, Magical Thinking will keep you safe from a deadly virus…

Has he pardoned him yet?

The CDC has good professional people, but under Redfield it’s been hollowed out. It’s a joke. And the problem is at the top of the org chart.

Redfield is just disgracing himself now. He should resign.

(Another Forrest Gump moment: His father and mine were Anthro colleagues at U of Chi. He’s a disappointment to many.)

This is bloody insane. Any parent who has kids in child care or volunteered thereof, or worked there knows this is insane.

Screen children and employees upon arrival?
Wearing a face covering, as feasible
Encourage social distancing in a day care? Have these morons ever been in a day care?
Limit sharing of toys, etc? (see above)
Encourage anyone who is sick to stay home. Encourage? WTF!?

Man, this is an outer-galaxy “guideline”.

But I guess Obama never left a playbook on pandemics according to Trump and McConnel.

"We had left a playbook and it was easy to tell that's what it was, because it said on the front in big red letters, Playbook, and then it had all those steps you needed to take... The only thing that's consistent in the excuse making" - @RonaldKlain w/ @NicolleDWallace pic.twitter.com/pNIZFrGXiJ

Good points otherwise, but you’re off on facemasks. New Mexico is now requiring them in public. It’s past time for that, everywhere.

There could not possibly have been any political interference from the Trump administration to remove these references, now, could there??

We’re being ordered to take them off. :joy:

It depends greatly on whether your governor is a Democrat or a Death Cult party member like ours.

from the above, “U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat, on Wednesday offered a resolution — blocked by Republicans — to encourage release of all the documents.”

So has someone asked Sen McConnell why he is blocking public health guidance produced by government workers and US tax dollars by Americans to the public? Is there a non-political reason? Has some public health official asked is this a good path forward?
