When I was interviewed by an FBI agent for a friend’s security clearance I would have been more impressed if he would have knocked down a passer by and choked him out.
No, it would apply to Biden too obviously. Point I’m making is that forcing Biden to assert it while you are in control of the charges and accusations he has to assert it against presents an opportunity for you to attempt to force him to make arguments that define the scope of the immunity very broadly. In that way, it flips things upside down and forces Biden to do your dirty work for you.
So yeah, expect Biden to get charged if they can magic up a ham sandwich that can convince a grand jury.
Trump’s oxygen are revenge, humiliation and causing his detractors and opponents pain. He’s also wealthy, which insulates him to some degree personally from whatever devastation he wreaks.
Everyone is analyzing his motives, the goals behind DOGE and Musk, his budget intentions, his foreign policy. But what if he merely wants to destroy the country, in a mad fit of pique, anger, the need to “make people pay” for perceived slights? What if allegations bringing down the republic is all he cares about are not hyperbole? Maybe the simple explanation for his conduct is he genuinely wants to burn it all down. He doesn’t care about veterans, the sick, the elderly, the economy, the GOP’s political prospects. He’s just a seething boil of anger and we’re all going to pay the price.
About forty years ago I went with my mom to pick up flowers and clean up the graves of some long deceased relatives in a little country cemetery. I commented on how large the plot was for only three graves and she said, oh, actually it’s six plots. I asked her why so many plots and she said back when the plots were bought it was before vaccines came in and they, my ancestors, just assumed that family members would die and these ancestors that bought the plots were the be prepared type of people. Hmmm. Deja vu all over again?
