“We’re going to continue this program,” Barajas told CNN affiliate KABC in an interview. “If you want to take us to court, then we’ll see you in court.”

Lock him up.

Throw them in jail, or if you really want to play hardball FINE them a HUGE amount of money for every single HOUR the boxes are up. Money is all they care about anyway, so hit them where it hurts.

More proof that Republicans are above the law and the corrupted courts will give them carte blanche to rig elections in their favor.

This should be prosecuted as racketeering.

Of course they are going to leave the boxes, it gives them the best chance to get California’s electoral college votes thrown out by his judges.

Fuck these guys. If they want to play rough with the voting system then the system should play rough with them. Every election official has a legitimate governmental interest in the handling of each ballot deposited in these harvesting boxes. The first person to arrive with a dropbox key invites an escorted interview with election officials and law enforcement.

That is the whole purpose.

Republicans: “See? Right there! Look at all the fraud with mail-in / drop-box ballots. We told you so.”

They’re trolling.
All the decision-makers in that organization should be arrested and prosecuted for felony election-tampering. Let’s see how funny they think that is.

attorneys for the state’s Republican Party said all of the ballot boxes dispatched by the party were indoors and staffed by volunteers or party officials.

Now IF, and that’s a big if, they actually have a party volunteer at each drop box for each minute the box is available to voters, that would comply with CA law, if the voter fills out the ballot envelope’s 3rd party delivery info with the volunteer’s name and the volunteer signs it, and the volunteer places the ballot in the “secure drop box” (some of which are made of cardboard). At that point it is the volunteer’s responsibility that the ballot be delivered to an election office, and the ballot has the volunteer’s name on it. If the volunteer wants to declare an old shoe box to be his personal ballot storage system, he can do so.

Now, anyone think they’ve actually been doing this, or that they’re going to do so for the next three weeks? Ok, you in the back, got a nice shiny bridge to sell you, cheap. An article I read yesterday said they were emptying the drop boxes every three days.

If there was ever any doubt that the GOP knows it is going to suffer a crushing defeat, the CA GOP has removed it.

They’ve got a misplaced sense of invulnerability and they’re playing in traffic here. Al Capone thought the fix was in, everything was organized. So did Boss Tweed. And Tweed died in jail, and Capone died at home, paroled after years of prison because his brain was ravaged by neurosyphilis. You can’t run wild forever.

While california’s electoral votes are not in doubt, there are four closely contested southern california congressional districts I can think of, which (no coincidence) is where these fake drop boxes are deployed. They need every edge they can get, and perhaps the woofing over the legality of these fake drop boxes helps their turnout. The four districts:

Katie Hill’s district (lost in the special election after she resigned)
Hunka-Dunter’s (vacant after he was sentenced)
Harry Rouda’s (he ejected Rohrabacher in 2018)
The district occupied by that guy who has no cows in california.

If there is a hell, I hope there’s a special place in it for Republicans.

And racists of any stripe.

I smell a lawsuit or two, and fast.

Also, it won’t be difficult to initiate an investigation by the CA Bar Association of attorneys behind this who are working for the Republican Party in California. They appear to be complicit in violation of the law. Any citizen can file a complaint of this nature, and probably certain groups should. Remember, attorneys won’t usually go after other attorneys, so other groups probably should at least give notice that they are going to see about going after them.

The cease and desist order demands compliance by end of day, today.

How are folks to know if a drop box is an authorized one in California?
I would assume a box in a gun store to be suspect.
