Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on Monday is still in the hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19, after announcing earlier this month that he tested positive for the coronavirus. Cain was hospitalized on July 1.
I had forgotten that Cain had been at the Tulsa rally. I’m sorry he’s serious enough to require such a long hospitalization, but damnit, republicans – stop denying, and let’s push these friggin’ numbers down.
I’m sure Cain can afford it and his insurance is probably pretty good. But think about how much a 4-week hospitalization would affect the finances of your average person.
Probably not, although still being on O2 27 days later does not speak well for the state of his lungs. I wonder if he’s got the “ground glass” thing going.
We know it’s been a few days since we last gave you an update on the boss. But he is still in the hospital being treated with oxygen for his lungs. In the meantime, the doctors say his other organs and systems are strong.
Instead of happy talk, how about some honesty? Like this:
This is the day you start to turn. What we suck up from your lungs turns frothy pink and then the frank red of blood. We don’t know if your heart is finally failing or if the virus has destroyed so much tissue that this is necrosis, hemorrhaged in your lungs. There are tests, but no one willing to run them — you are too sick, and you have never cleared the virus. No one would ever want to be what you are now: a hazard, a threat, a frightening object on the edge of death.
I just can’t muster any sympathy for this guy. He was on Twitter posting anti-mask nonsense right up until he was hospitalized. While I hope there aren’t a great number of people out there taking advice from Herman Cain, his irresponsibility and lies may have cost the lives of innocent others.
I hope he recovers and then spreads the warning to others: “Wear a fucking mask!”
If not, the only vultures near his funeral will all be Republicans.
I don’t have facts to back this up, but Mr. Cain struck me as the smartest of the 2016 GOP primaries clown car occupants. I hope he pulls through and maybe learns something.
I just find it tragic that a man of his intelligence and wherewithal would knowingly put himself at risk despite his age and probable co-morbidities. He was at high risk of developing serious complications if infected with the Coronavirus, and sure enough, he’s now dealing with the consequences.
And the people on his team? Team Trump? They don’t give a shit. They like people who don’t come down with the Coronavirus. I doubt a single one has inquired about his well-being. While I have zero expectations of Cain, I hope he recovers and becomes an evangelist for sensible policies and safety measures.
