Ken Paxton will have to file suit to stop this appointment. Unfortunately he could probably only count on 172 GOP House members to join in the effort.

I love this appointment. Good going Gavin and congrats Padilla.

Highly appropriate.

Thanks Gavin!

Let me also congratulate Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) on her selection as Joes Interior Secretary. High time an actual Native American had a say in the affairs of Native Americans!

And Kennie’s track record on these kinds of suits is soooooooooooo good (tee-hee . . .)

Little Marco and Ted Cruz are already looking to see if he ever mentioned Fidel Castro or issued warm wishes to the people of Cuba.

Ted Cruz will just ratchet up the anti-immigrant rhetoric again - he’s been hysterical over immigrants moving to Texas. From California and New York. :joy:

Very very touching video. And about time to have the first Hispanic in the Senate.

And to Governor Newsom for making a good choice.

I’m not crazy about it. One it smacks of cronyism even though it satisfies the need for a Latino in the senate from this state. For another there have been two women senators in those senate seats for years beginning with Boxer, next Feinstein, now Harris. To not replace Harris with another Black woman, namely Barbara Lee of Oakland, means there are no Black women in the senate any longer.

One solution and I say it only half jokingly is for Feinstein to retire and Newsom can do the right thing with her replacement.

Not secret much longer, thanks to blabber-mouths like you.

You certainly have a better handle on some things being from California.

I honestly believe that Feinstein needs to retire, so maybe he will appoint a woman.

A good choice, although I expected a Black woman to be appointed.

Dems can’t rob the House now. Too slim a majority. With Haaland and a few others joining Biden’s cabinet/government, this took away a lot of Newsom’s options.

I’ve loved Feinstein for many years, supported her against all sorts of criticism, but the time has come. Next, let the Rs pressure Grass who’s the same age.

O there are definitely others who are past their sell-by date.
