The National Butterfly Center, a target for right-wing conspiracy theories situated along the U.S.-Mexico border, is shutting down for the “immediate future” after a fringe border wall rally brought a weekend of unwanted attention to the wildlife sanctuary.
NB: Most of the Q/MAGAts are probably clinically sane but deranged and/or so full of bile that, ultimately, violence becomes their preferred option. Individual responses to this should include avoidance but what it is doing to our civic culture is another matter.
It’s really way beyond time for the butterfly people to take the opportunity to blatantly fake a scene that these idiots could misinterpret from a distant iPhone video as direct evidence of them being involved in child trafficking. Just use inflatable love dolls and cabbage patch kids while filming it all themselves and then laugh their asses off as these idiots incriminate themselves and go to prison. Goad them into ruining their own lives. They deserve it for ruining everyone else’s.
It’s not a problem an electrified fence and a few armed guards with German Shepard attack dogs couldn’t solve.
More seriously, I hate to see an outfit like this shuttered even temporarily, because it gives the other side a win. I’m wondering why the local police can’t control the situation and keep the center safe? That’s what they’re paid for. Or are the local police in bed with the rightwing nut jobs?
My question is there is more land to the Center’s west that is a state park, why aren’t these folks looking for clues to child sex trafficking there? But that would mean they’d have to go after Abbott.
“These people are basically insane, like Pizzagate,” Glassberg said. “People were trafficking babies at this pizza parlor? How any sane human being can possibly believe this stuff is beyond belief. You have to be literally insane, and clearly they are.”
