One Dark Damn Day We’ve endured some very dark days in Trump II, but yesterday was particularly grim — and a possible taste of what’s to come between now and Election Day. President Trump launched a race war against Somalians and Somali-Americans in Minnesota. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth exuberantly announced that the holiday season execution…

American Taliban on full display for the world to see. Thanks so much to all the dimwits, racists, misogynists, and feral macho men who gave Drumpf a second crack at destroying the US.

And it’s all just the fucking tip of the iceberg.
I.e, folks attending to Guilfoyle while Kushner and Witkoff keep on keeping on and Donnie banks his earnings from bankrupting his cryptomarks.

Jack Reed, the Senate armed services committee ranking member, has also condemned the Pentagon’s decision to livestream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter.

On Friday, Reed called the decision “a barbaric spectacle”, adding: “This is yet another stunt by Secretary Hegseth to distract from his tenure’s repeated failings which have only weakened our national security and standing in the world.”

Reed called on the Donald Trump administration to “reconsider this abhorrent move” and said that a livestream would be a “gift to anti-American terrorist recruiters”.

As a (no longer active) historian of medieval Europe, I’m usually appalled when people apply the adjective “medieval” to mean backwards, superstitious, etc. Here, however, I’m in complete agreement with Senator Murphy. Hegseth is a Crusader wannabe–and I specialized in Crusades history.

The Cassidy Hutchinson attempt to indict

They’ve failed repeatedly on lawsuits. They’re going a different direction with this one, it seems.

In an unusual move, the Civil Rights Division — and not the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. — is handling the Hutchinson investigation, sources said. It was not immediately clear why that office was assigned the case.

From the article

The storm could be the first major test of the ability of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) to deploy a large workforce after the Trump administration’s sweeping cuts and restructuring of the agency, emergency management experts say.

The Trump administration has said it wants to eliminate, or drastically downsize, Fema, putting more burden on states. More than 4,300 employees left the agency in fiscal year 2025, about 17% of the workforce, according to a recent US Government Accountability Office (GAO) report.

The agency’s staffing reductions were not carried out systematically to ensure Fema could still meet its statutory obligations, said Chris Currie, director of homeland security and justice at the GAO.
