We have accomplished a great deal. We can do more…and the more is Messaging to impress the American People that the GOP wants nothing that most of us need and desire.
The capability is there**. We must use it.
** before the cynics weigh in…we are more capable than most countries
It may come to that. If most people really thought about the stakes and how much time we actually have left, they would move to have every BothSider fired and jailed.
She can make speeches. Of her previous stint on the Fed (2010-2014), the WaPo reported:
In her speeches, she has called attention to problems in the mortgage and foreclosure industries, the consequences of growing wealth and income inequality and the plight of low- and middle-income consumers.
“identify, compare, and recommend changes in fiscal, monetary, and financial regulatory policies that are likely to enable the United States to achieve net carbon neutrality before 2050. This diverse and unified committee will tell stories, produce and present papers, craft media messaging, and put forth recommendations to address the climate crisis through innovative policy solutions.”
Sample quote: The resident was a bit flummoxed herself; this was her first face-to-face encounter with the former First Daughter. “She’s well put together,” the neighbor remembers. “She’s had a lot of work done, and it’s good plastic. It’s Miami, and there’s a lot of bad plastic here. She has good plastic.”
The Democrats unfortunately message at an altitude higher than the public. They need to take their intent, which is the right one and message with their feet on the ground.
Okay, that sounds just a little bit Republican.
But a good message covering the talking out of both sides of their mouths might be in order.
I would say Janet Yellen. She’s married to Nobel Laureate George Akerlof, which means the US has always gotten a two-fer in her service posts. And if the GOP still act like spoiled children, two more words – Larry Lindsey.
I’m a professor we are in love with the sound of our own six-syllable words. There have got to be people deployed who speak the language of Truth that we can all relate to. Yesterday, @visionseeker wrote a post in response to one of mine (dealing with our common needs) which was superbly crafted and which would have been read and understood by everyone.
This is a pretty standard big oil/coal play. I have to wonder if she has a chance. Unless some Republican senators break her way, all it takes is a couple of Democrats in the pocket of fossil fuels to kill her nomination.
