Brooklyn Center Mayor: Biden Admin ‘Actively Engaged’ In Helping His Community Amid Chauvin Trial

Brooklyn Center, Minnesota Mayor Mike Elliot said on Monday evening that officials in President Joe Biden’s administration had “extended support” for his community in their conversations with him amid unrest over ex-cop Derek Chauvin’s murder trial nearby in Minneapolis, which was further fueled by the police killing of Daunte Wright in Elliot’s city.

Biden supported this town despite lack of precedent from previous administration. Previous president and his administration fomented division and hate in Charlottesville, at his many campaign stops, and in rhetoric for more than ten years. Thank God and activists (also Biden’s values honed through time, pain, and ordinary decency) that after four years of Adolf Fauntleroy, we now have a President.

I was horrified to actually read the lyrics of the Ted Nugent song “Jailbait” recently. It helps to explain the Nuge’s popularity with Tr_mp and Jeffrey Epstein. Why would any politician associate themselves with Nugent? The fact they do explains a lot! I hope you don’t need it, but this link is proof of Ted Nugent ‘s disgusting rapey lyrics ( I warned ya’.)

Jury hangs on most serious charges. Convicts on 3rd degree manslaughter. Comparatively light sentence imposed, yet perfectly in line with sentencing guidelines. Black communities nationwide erupt. Marches, fires, arsons, lootings, shootings. GOP latches onto the mayhem and destruction as proof urban centers are out of control and backing away from tough on crime approach to law enforcement is folly.

Rinse and repeat yearly, ad infinitum.

You are probably right but I am still hopeful of a more positive outcome

You may be correct. At this point any conviction would be better then an acquittal in my opinion. Chauvin’s life as he knew it, is totally gone (as it should be).

OMG, the President is trying to provide aid to an American community during a crisis instead of fanning the flames of conflict?!?

Wonder if the judge will bellyache about Biden the way he did about Maxine.

TBH: I don’t think Maxine should’ve said anything until after the verdict was in. There was no reason for her to say anything. Her presence was enough. Kinda like what Biden is doing - provide support and leave opinion out of it.

I’m SURE the Republicans will be OUTRAGED DAMMIT! to see that the Biden Administration is ‘interfering’ in local politics…we can’t have THAT!!!

How conflicted does this asshole have to be to stubbornly refuse to get vaccinated after Fearless Leader got his.

Didn’t’ he marry a fourteen year old girl?

I’ve been mostly boycotting them already for their conservative political funding.

Nah. He sits for 5 years in prison, gets out, writes a book, becomes some sort of consultant, gets appearance fees for months or years on the FOX/OAN/Newsmax talk circuit. Becomes a hero of the racist, authoritarian crowd. Milks it for more money than any of us will see in a lifetime.

Or he’s killed in prison. Sometimes I surprise myself with bursts of optimism.

At the news conference Monday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) called the new law “the strongest anti-rioting, pro-law enforcement piece of legislation in the country.” Given that the law is now in effect, he noted that Florida was “prepared” for whatever verdict emerges in the Chauvin trial.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he added at the news conference. “But I can tell you that case was bungled by the attorney general there in Minnesota. They didn’t handle it properly. And so there may be people disappointed.”

So DeSantis weighing in is Maxine Waters lite?

And then to wake up to this in MO. At least the Republican legislature did the right thing. For once.

No too many killings in minimum security, country club facilities. It’s not as if he’ll be sent to some supermax hellhole.

Sounds like a challenge to Floridians.

That will end well.

Not every listener is situated equally. What you’re suggesting may appeal to some folk but what Rep. Waters said may be what others needed to hear from someone in authority.

Just a thought.
