This article is part of TPM Cafe, TPM’s home for opinion and news analysis. It was originally published at Balls and Strikes. On the morning of Sunday, September 20, police officers in the Chicago suburb of Evanston responded to a 911 call about a confrontation in the street. When the officers arrived, they found a man on the ground who reported injuries to…
Time for everyone who is aghast (such as this author and witnesses) to LOUDLY call this behavior a KAVANAUGH STOP, thus defining his cocky degeneracy as having consequences for forever shaming. Just as we now know santorum to be sexy anal discharge, this neologism will be just punishment for the beer-swilling brute that Brett K really is.
It would be nice if Kavanaugh ever put himself into a position where someone could ask him about his reasoning and point out (upside his goddamn head if necessary) that it was dumb.
“They all look the same to me” is reasonable suspicion to detain and interrogate, the documents could be fake is reasonable suspicion to continue the detention and enhanced interrogation, and “oops, my bad” is sufficient atonement to dismiss the possibility of further punishment for the ICE agent, who probably feared for his life.
The beer drinker is not liking the term Kavanaugh stop. Too fraking bad.
All hyper privileged bratty drunk little rapey white boys look the same to me, “Justice” Kavanaugh. unfortunately for me, in a white supremacist patriarchy, I have no secret (white male) police force to stop you on suspicion of stupidity, incompetence, racism, and sexual assault. Even though in your case the suspicion is more than reasonable. One might even say obvious.
Kavanaugh’s racial profiling apologia in Vasquez Perdomo was always based on a fantasy. People of color have no choice but to live in the real world.
The conservative SCOTUS Justices prefer to avoid the real world, where they are supposed to pay attention to District Court trial findings. Instead, they just go with their imaginations of the real world, or preferences for it, based on very limited experience of it.
I was interested, the other day, to listen to Professor Richard Hasen tell Dahlia Lithwick that the DoJ brief to SCOTUS, in support of the USPS attempt to create voter verification rules, did not engage at all with the strongest points in the briefs opposing USPS. That is, going with preferences rather than actuality.
Sick fantasy is part and parcel of this administration, from the top on down. But they sure know how to rent out the power of their offices, sell out the nation, and make an unimaginable pile of cash. We can only hope, paraphrasing Francis Bacon’s caution that “a Parliament will come,” that a renewed and invigorated Congress will come. So don’t let the Felon President break the chain of custody and seize the ballots after the election!
Ya know, Kavanaugh looks like he might have immigrated illegally from Ireland. ICE had better investigate just to make sure.
