Following President Trump’s controversial pardon, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan dismissed the pending criminal case against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, bringing to a close one of the most dramatic episodes in the Russia investigation and subsequent interference at the Justice Department to undercut it.
Ok. What’s news? I think everyone expected that from Sullivan but…
OT
A suspected Chinese spy cozied up to members of Congress and “engaged in sexual or romantic relationships with at least two mayors of Midwestern cities,” according to an investigation by Axios. Christine Fang was a prominent fundraiser for Rep. Eric Swalwell, even recommending an intern for the California Democrat’s office. After being briefed by authorities in 2015 about Fang’s suspected ties to China, Swalwell cut her off and Fang fled the country, according to Axios. “At least two separate sexual interactions with elected officials, including one of these Midwestern mayors, were caught on FBI electronic surveillance of Fang, according to two intelligence officials,” Axios wrote. The identities of these officials and mayors are unknown.
I’m just going to wait patiently until Flynn really fucks up and gets charged with treason like he deserves. People like Flynn never learn - he’ll just go bigger now and eventually it’s going to catch up with him.
He’ll go the George Zimmerman/OJ Simpson route, and live a terrible life, with the knowledge that his pardon is undeserved. I’d rather see him in an orange jumpsuit, but this is what we’re stuck with.
Sullivan said that, “pardon ’does not, standing alone, render [Mr. Flynn] innocent of the alleged violation.’”
A little surprised at the wording. I would have expected it to be “pardon ’does not, standing alone, render [Mr. Flynn] innocent of the violation to which he twice plead guilty.’”
“Because the law recognizes the President’s political power to pardon, the appropriate course is to dismiss this case as moot,” Sullivan said. Quoting another court case, however, Sullivan said that, “pardon ’does not, standing alone, render [Mr. Flynn] innocent of the alleged violation.’”
