Originally published at: BREAKING: Judge Blocks ICE From Re-Detaining Abrego Garcia
Sua Sponte and Nunc Pro Tunc In a dramatic series of overnight developments, the Trump administration took extraordinary steps to try to re-detain Kilmar Abrego Garcia within hours of his court-ordered release, but a federal judge stepped in and blocked the move. U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis of Maryland issued a temporary restraining order at…
Reminder: Choice is simple. Choose to live life without certain products or you are choosing instead to live life with fewer and fewer rights. Oligarchy is predisposed to fascism and will invariably tighten the noose to maintain their wealth, power and control.
Give yourself a holiday gift.

She is, however, very beautiful.
I think I would avoid any interaction with ICE, were I Mr. Abrego Garcia. What an absolute travesty. Also, too, how long before these idiots try to indict Ms. James again? As the article noted, most judges would have an issue with “grand jury shopping.”
I understand the courts have denied deportation for Abrego Garcia, and put a block on the possibility, but when has that ever stopped the government from doing what it wants to do?
Appeals take time and, as we’ve seen with this guy, he could already be gone and months pass before the order to bring him back takes hold.
I don’t know what to suggest for him - ICE-holes don’t care about orders from the court.
Tariff/conquest of Venezuela trivia. An excellent explanation of US oil production (light crude) and refinery requirements (heavy crude) to explain why US import(ed) vast quantities of heavy crude from Canada and… Venezuela. Seven minutes well spent. War on narco-terrorists, or territorial aggression? Hmmm.
I’m sure he has, but they track him down and confront, which is their MO. How does he avoid the interaction if they’re standing outside the courthouse or courtroom where he is ordered to appear?
Phillip P. Taylor demonstrates that we don’t really have immigration judges in America. We have immigration “judges” where the “judge” works for the gestapo, I mean the president personally, no sorry misspoke again, I mean the executive branch.
Seeing a lot of headlines to like this morning:
“Trump executive order aspires to end state AI regulatiion.”
“Trump says he will pardon … Tina Peters”
“Trump symbolically pardons Tina Peters”
“Trump asserts he has pardoned Tina Peters”
“Colorado says Trump’s pardon … a ‘lawless act’”
“Tina Peters will remain in prison …”
“Kilmar Abrego Garcia is released …”
“Second Grand Jury refuses to indict … Letitia James”
“Indiana Senate rejects Trump’s redistricting …”
“Republican-led House votes to overturn Trump executive order …”
Once you get into the article, the 7th Circuit said that he didn’t follow the specifics that had been set out (individual evaluation of detainees). But they extend the order restricting what ICE can do and when and what steps they must take before doing them.
Today’s Heather & Paul:
Every so often, someone within the TFG administration does a good thing. At least starts a good thing. Those 39 states apply for SSI Supplemental income for foster kids, then keep the money to “administer the foster system” for that child. Eleven states have put something in place to prevent that from happening and keeping the money available for the child.
From local TV stations in Baltimore, Garcia held a press conference early this morning before entering the local ICE office, as required. Garcia thanked God for being with his family as they fought to obtain his release. Saying that God is on his side is sure to drive Fox News hosts into fits of apoplexy.
For sure, ICE under Trump’s orders will be making Garcia’s time outside jail as miserable as possible in Baltimore.
Yes, immigration judges work for the DOJ and can be fired at will. They are not part of an independent judiciary, subject to the rulings of the Trump-favoring Robert’s court.
They couldn’t get it to whistle Dixie?
Still waiting to see “Trump is dead.”
And most of what I’m seeing/reading about Machado is that she’s basically an oil industry/CIA plant. Like the old days. Republicans continue to be a nostalgia act. I’m starting to understand why Bob Dylan blew off the Nobel.
In a fair and just (read: perfect) world Abrego Garcia would be able to sue each individual personally for their involvement in his egregious mistreatment. From Putin’s cock-holster on down – every damn one of them!
