A federal judge in Manhattan on Tuesday blocked the move by the Justice Department to withdraw several of its attorneys from the census citizenship question case in New York.
I guess âI was obviously lying before but our next proposition involves more lying to the judge than Iâm comfortable withâ doesnât work as a justification. Boy that lawyering game sure is complimacated.
LOLâŚthis is a not-so-happy judge who is clearly very displeased with their shenanigans, and I get the sense heâs had it with their bullshit because itâs reached the point where in his view, itâs crossed over into making a mockery of the court and judicial system.
Part of the process where all of the decent career attorneys quit and the entire place is taken over by a gang of right-wing stooges. Barr will see this as a win in the long run.
Yeah âwhatevesâ doesnât seem to cut it with this judge.
Iâm just waiting for someone to publically ask âWho is in charge here?â Hopefully Barr-Barr will have to go up to NY and straighten out this judge. Let us see a real legal Houdini in action.
I will note that two of the attorneys were released from the case, but only because they quit the DoJ entirely. So, two attorneys did the right (or maybe necessary) thing.
While this is a âwinâ for the good guys, other than making it more difficult to get delays based on change of lawyers, it doesnât accomplish much. Barr can add a couple of his lawyers to the team, and have them be the ones who show up in court before the judge.
