I don’t know much about Brazilian President Lula, except he is not Bolsonaro. Brazil’s Amazon Rain Forest is a vital element in global climate control. Perhaps President Biden can find a way to help stop the wholesale logging and burning policy of Brazil’s former guy.
Lula says he will stop deforestation of the Amazon.
I guess we’ll see. This planet’s ecosystem will not do well without lungs if the forest is gone.
Given Lula’s very long and very progressive history in politics, I could wax nostalgic about this Brazilian.
(But I think I better stop right there.)
The damage Donald Trump has wrought to this Planet (him and henchmen) is incalculable.
In 2016, we should have outvoted him by McGovern/Mondale standards on competence alone, never mind his criminality.
Tfg came to power at the worst possible time for us.
Yeah, we don’t want a hairy situation to crop up.
Brazil’s President Visits White House
I wonder if this one will overstay his visa, too.
Enough with the Pubescent behavior
Read this article and it explains what Lula is doing to protect the Amazon:
At the end of the article, it explains that Lula is not supportive of NATO’s proxy war in Ukraine. He has publicly said in the past the Zelenskyy is as much to blame for the conflict as Putin. He also will continue to embrace China as he has during his first two terms. Regardless of Biden’s wanting to stir up anti- China sentiment.
That is clearly wrong. But Zelensky believes that he can win this conflict militarily. That is a hard road to go as most of the destruction is in Ukraine. Unless Putin gets ousted by an anti-war faction, the war could just drag on for a long time.
There should be far more anti-China sentiment than what you imagine Biden is trying to “stir up.” It’s a country whose leader has appointed himself president, dissidents are executed with impunity and behind curtains. They produce cheap goods with slave labor so in order to compete capitalistic must lower their prices and take a loss. Their carbon emissions are poisoning their countrymen and it will move to poison other countries. Also it’s very likely Covid originated there.
So, “anti-China” sentiment involving a Communist regime? Bring it.
Interestingly, Brad Parscale’s partner, Jill Giles, immigrated here from Brazil. She’s stated in interviews that her father was a high-ranking member of Brazil’s diplomatic corps, with ties to the notorious security forces, which is also how she learned Japanese
Even more interesting, Giles, not Parscale, founded their website company, which was called Giles-Parscale. And it was apparently Giles, not Parscale, Trump’s campaign contacted about working with them – reportedly because she’d done work for Trump’s real-estate business in the past.
