Both Sides Claim Vindication After Vid Surfaces Showing Trump Kissing Accuser | Talking Points Memo

It was a rare piece of evidence in what are usually he-said-she-said cases: Video.

In this case, video of then-candidate Donald Trump kissing a campaign staffer in an RV in Tampa, Florida, on August 24, 2016.

She’s a black woman working to make a racist, sexist creep president. My heart breaks for her. NOT!!

Sorry… I see no battery. I am sure I am going to get jumped on by the usual suspects, but defending each and every gold-digging liar hurts women’s cause.

Um, what battery? I’m not seeing anything in either of the videos.

In fairness, I would personally feel pretty battered if Trump kissed me on the cheek. But in context, that ain’t anything actionable.

Isn’t wearing that shirt an invitation to a pussy grab? She should be happy it was only a kiss.

Alva, if you help elect diddlers, you are gonna get diddled.

You might be looking for the wrong kind of battery.

Quick edit: Not intended to trivialize actual cases of battery.

WTF? I despise when Republicans play this game and I despise it even more when those on our side do the same thing. This is complete crap - just a friendly gesture. Reminds me of the crap they were throwing at Biden.

As much as I hate Trump and would love him taken down with a hatchet - this video shows a normal encounter with normal people. Whomever start this should be slapped out of their chair.

A handshake first would have been more polite. But it does show that Trump saw her, cut short who he was talking to, walked over, grabbed her by the shoulders and kissed her. Don’t think it’s battery but shows how he works, just like he said.

Agreed.

I had no idea my grandmothers subjected me to ‘common law battery’ every time I saw them.

Get me a shovel and a blank criminal complaint!

At first I thought she leaned toward him and it looked like she was accepting the kiss. But when I watched it again, i focused on Trump’s hands. He grabs her by the shoulders and pulls her toward himself. After the kiss, then he sortof pushes her away while he releases his hands.

“Trump’s attorneys injected the evidence directly into the bloodstream of the video-oriented media world their client knows so well.”

And “the video-oriented media world” was happy to play along.

Maybe there is something that I’m not seeing. It actually looks like she leaned in for the cheek kiss.

The only thing that I see in the video that is obscene is Trump’s hair.

It pains me to say it, but having this kind of trivial encounter result in a lawsuit risks delegitimizing other, stronger claims…it will only strengthen Trump in the court of public opinion.

I agree that it would be hard to prove battery from that video. But my guess is that he felt comfortable kissing and embracing women who worked for his campaign, and that was the expected response, regardless of how you might have felt about it. Kind of–forgive me–Bidenesque, really. This is probably more of a demonstration of how some people feel that women should be flattered by such attention, whether it is welcomed or not.

So a trump campaign worker in true trumpian form tries to grift because she could and somehow this is Obama’s fault?

She’s not on our side. She worked to get Trump elected, then something happened that made her angry with him. Just because she’s now against him doesn’t mean she was ever with us.

I don’t care if she was wearing a G string and pasties; what a woman wears is no excuse for sexual assault.

I understand what you’re saying, and I agree. But I refuse to claim her. She is not on our side. She is wearing a Trump teeshirt.
