In the department of the hospital where my son practices, the older doctors (at least, most of them) turn the TV in their lounge to Fox News. When any of the younger doctors enter, they pointedly turn it to CNN. (Not to MSNBC – that would make it impossible for all of them to continue to work together.)

I am embarrassed to admit that I grew up in what is today Marjorie Taylor Greene’s district. Some in my hometown think she walks on water. I am so very glad to say that I left that place a long time ago, and it’s one of the best decisions I ever made.

As governor Reagan would have a press conference in an area like Malibu or the San Fernando Valley about the air quality, which was quite smoggy in those days in Los Angeles which was several miles away. “What are those environmentalists complaining about, the air quality is fine here”. Nonetheless CARB was still implemented.

This is true of every GQP in office these days. The voters choose them because they can and they do. Far too many are plenty happy with what they have and look upon electing them as a badge of honor.
Those that vote against them are marginalized and, yes, they may be embarrassed, but until the momentum shifts away from performative and actual usefulness, this is where we are.
How can she explain something she can’t understand? The woman hasn’t the brains she was born with.

And FWIW, in HS I too refused to stand for or recite the pledge, an idiotic and unconstitutional loyalty oath that no one should have to make but once, if and when they’re naturalized, or when being sworn in to some government position. You shouldn’t have to do it every day. It’s fake patriotism and a form of harassment and forced compliance. Freedom means not having to prove your loyalty. Btw no one bothered or censured me, or even noticed. It was my silent protest.
