Can’t see how this could possibly go wrong.

CBP agents are already being bribed to let people and drugs into the country. Classified info? Spy heaven.

Pushing further toward its goal of “extreme vetting,” the Trump administration is creating a new center in suburban Virginia that will allow immigration agents to access, for the first time, the sprawling array of information scooped up by America’s intelligence agencies, from phone calls intercepted by the National Security Agency to material gathered by the CIA’s spies overseas to tips from informants in Central America.

My head is spinning. Trump is going to give CBP agents top secret information gleaned from the very same intelligence agencies he and Barr are working overtime to destroy? Presumably for being corrupt. Pick a side and stick to it please.

Why would the Border Patrol or ICE need access to classified information? If classified information pointed to a person, there are other agencies who already have access and can cooperate with immigration agencies to stop them from entering or doing harm. They also already have the checks in place to secure the information…as noted there are already plenty of cases where Border Patrol or ICE agents are not acting in the best interests of the nation (through bribes or other avenues), giving them access to this kind of information is just asking for trouble.

Really, our entire immigration system is going to need a redo after the Trump administration gets done with it.

Too ghastly to follow to its conclusion.

Except for one observation:

In a dictatorship, one person is immune from accountability.

This is eminently a good thing.

Next time that CBP flags a passport for, say, a “Parnas” or a “Fruman”, instead of accidentally calling the FBI and having an innocent ally hauled away, they’ll be able to know that they should just quietly wave them on the plane.

OT, but maybe important.

Let’s start with “transparency” of the classified intel on Melania’s Einstein Visa or chain migration. Also, lets start with the Kushner family selling US visas to the Chinese…let’s start with those classified info!

And I’m betting that the Trump Crime Family & BFFs will NOT pass the “extreme vetting” process the Orange POSpotus would subject the brown/poor/sick/old immigrants!

Wait till they start vetting and spying on natural born citizens directly. We just went through the first throes of dealing with the Real ID program here in Texas** just to renew a driver’s license. It is both an insult and chilling. I can easily see, considering the agencies involved now, information being used willynilly to suit this administration’s needs against any population group, not just immigrant segments. Considering what we have seen of the immigration personnel, there is a high potential for abuse.

** The DMV personnel basically said it is a mess tossed on them and they have to deal with really unhappy people. Lots of thoughts on this. I feel for any of the older folks who have to thread through this including the costs of things like birth certificates and such.

It’s necessary to destroy in order to create the “American STASI”.

Bullshit that we allow pieces of paper to determine identity.

Should exhume every grave in the U.S., do DNA testing, and use that as the database to verify parentage and the right to be here.

Sucks to be you if relatives went MIA or were cremated, but we have to start with a legitimate basis, not shit that can be faked.

So, there’s real questions as to what kind of management decisions are being made.

Asked and answered: “[DHS] is largely run by political appointees, who can be influenced by whatever agenda is being pushed by the president.”

Or as @castor_troy said at the top of this thread, “Can’t see how this could possibly go wrong.”

So if you’re English and post something derogatory about donnie on social, will you be banned?

Also, what is the next step? Who is next?

Scary AF. Wonder if Xi or Lil’ Kim gave him this advice?
