Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Sunday took aim at Republican senators who hectored Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson during her confirmation hearings last week.
Booker also knew that those fuckers were setting themselves up for “Those Racist GOP Fucks™” attack ads, and was smart and strategic about making the most of that.
Republicans are drawn to child pornography. The more twisted, the more drawn.
It would have helped if more Democratic senators had verbally attacked their mofo colleagues on the right in the hearing room, thrown punches in defense of Jackson.
We need to wean ourselves off manufactured GOP outrage and ignore Cruz and company. They are thrilled that they became the center of attention this past week and they don’t give a shit about any Twitter dunking.
In the end, Thapar concluded that while 100 years would be a deterrent he was not convinced that these “healthy sentences” aren’t accomplishing “as much deterrence as we want.”
For his confirmation to an appeals court, Thapar received the support of Republican members who still sit on the Senate Judiciary panel, including Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Graham, John Cornyn of Texas, Mike Lee of Utah, Cruz, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, John Kennedy of Louisiana and Thom Tillis of North Carolina.
I appreciate what Booker is trying to say but I honestly have trouble taking anything he says sincerely. Where Bush was a noun, a verb, and 9/11, it seems that Booker a noun, a pregnant pause, and live, laugh, love.
Maybe my brain is unique in tuning him out but I thought his performance during the hearing was stupid and contrived and likely did more harm than Ted’s racist baby bit.
There is a process and procedures, and Democrats are following them…really, nowadays having a nominee confirmed in a month is super fast. And, she doesn’t take the bench until the fall term starts in October, so there’s no rush to finish her nomination, especially since it looks like all the Democrats are now onboard. Odds are she doesn’t get any Republican votes, though don’t be surprised if a couple do decide to vote for her so that the process doesn’t look as racist as it actually is.
The essence of being a politician is to play to the camera and audience. Truth has very little to do with anything for those people. The “prime directive” is reelection. Not much else matters. Certainly not a SCOTUS nomination or any legislation
Seriously! Did this GOP shitwidgeon ever have any integrity? Portman has always been a pretentious preening asshole basking in the newsmedia’s undeserved declaration of his “moderaciness” as long as I’ve following politics. Good riddance to this insufferable poseur.
