Book: Giuliani Associate Sought ‘General Pardon’ After Capitol Insurrection

An associate of Rudy Giuliani attempted to ask then-President Trump to grant his personal lawyer a “general pardon” and the Presidential Medal of Freedom shortly after the deadly Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, according to an advance copy of a new book obtained by the New York Times.

Ah, Rudy, we hardly knew ye.

And yet, what we know is too much.

I guess asking for a pardon for a particular ‘indiscretion’ would put too much burden on top tier republicans so general pardon is definitely the way to go.

Not so sure Rudy wasn’t behind that letter. Based on my experience working in an NYC Mayoral office during Rudy’s last few years, it would be entirely in character. Rudy had pretty pricey tastes in many things, including cigars (Mayor’s Office employees got a discount at a cigar store near City Hall as a result), and booze. I couldn’t say that I ever witnessed corruption on scale comparable to Trump’s, but I certainly saw rules constantly ignored so that City actions could benefit Rudy’s voters and large campaign contributors.

A medal, a pardon, and money. It’s in ascending order.

Call me a cock-eyed optimist, but I think we’re seeing the beginnings of a new political party - The Grievance Party - slithering away from the Party of Rich White Guy Koch-suckers.

Stay tuned for a third party run by his AssHoliness

I guess at a Trump meeting when someone says Pardon Me, its not for the more typical reason.

America is beset by dipshit third parties. Greens, Reform, Libertarians, Forward, Third Way, whatever the fuck George Wallace ran under. There is always room for disaffected Know-Nothings to briefly coalesce around something stupid and hopeless and spoilery. It makes them feel smart and accepted.

Stinking. Rotten. Corrupt.

“praying you present him with this on Friday, January 15 or Monday the 19"

If Friday is the 15th, wouldn’t that make Monday the 18th? Are they using some sort of MAGA calendar?

Of course he was behind the letter. Rudy whined through the press constantly that he wasn’t getting paid. This seems of a piece with that story about how he was seeking $20k/day, which seems pretty laughable for a drunken, flatulent failattorney. But then again the whole thing of slavishly promoting the benefits of licking Donnie’s taint, just as Donnie wanted Rudy to promote, did end up costing Rudy his license to pretend about being a lawyer, so the guy probably is entitled to some compensation.

Is Trump headed towards a Howard Beale moment, having outlived his utility and now being dead weight just dragging things down for the entities that put him in power as their stalking horse in the first place?

Maybe take greater care in who orders and picks up your KFC from now on, Donald?

IOW

110 years after a progressive Bull Moose Party broke away from a stodgy Republican Party, a revanchist Bull Shit Party hollows out a plutocratic Republican Party.

O tempora, o mores!

Trump, reading the note, gets to “pay me,” stops, tears it up, and throws it in the toilet.
Shoulda asked for the pardon first.
