Did any senator bother mentioning that Bondi’s only experience in federal courts comes via performative lawsuits? She participated in one of the lawsuits that attempted to overturn the Affordable Care Act.
Wikipedia also has this (for now):
In August 2018, while still serving as Florida attorney general, Bondi co-hosted The Five on Fox News three days in a row while also appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show.[22] Fox News claimed that the Florida Commission on Ethics had approved Bondi’s appearance on the program; however, the spokeswoman for the commission denied that, telling the Tampa Bay Times that no decision was made by the commission and that the commission’s general counsel did not make a determination whether or not Bondi’s appearance as a host violated the Florida Code of Ethics. The Tampa Bay Times described it as “unprecedented” for a sitting elected official to host a TV show.[22]
In nominating her to be U.S. attorney general, Trump said that, as Florida’s attorney general, she had “worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country,” and that she had done “an incredible job”.[23] In fact, however, Florida’s age-adjusted rate of “deaths from drug poisoning” nearly doubled during her term, from 13.7 per 100,000 residents in 2011 to 25.1 when she left office in 2019.[24]
Trump’s guilt in the docs case is bone head obvious. He broke 3 serious laws
Obstruction
Espionage act
Theft of classified docs
Helene caused more wind fatalities than any tropical system since at least 1963. Almost all due to trees.
Clear cutting. Problem solved, with the added bonus that Trump has eliminated the threat of forest fires and fired the lazy, do-nothing Smokey Bear.
trump 2.0 is going to be unbelievably bad. Whatever we have imagined, it is going to be worse. A lot worse, I am afraid.
ETA: I do kind of have to hand it to Repubs for playing the long game. They have been big mad about the New Deal for nearly 100 years, Great Society and Civil Rights for 60+ yrs, etc., and they have made dismantling and winding back all of that their long term goal. trump 2.0 is the culmination of that plan. ALL of the economic and social progress that has been made basically since the Robber Baron era is going bye bye. The new Robber Baron era, complete with overt autocracy, is about to begin.
Considering how the D’s are responding to the Shitgibbon’s nominees, you might as well cut this country in half and give China and Russia each a piece. With a bow on top of it.
This country is fucked.
I plan on making TPM, Democracy Docket, Pro Publica and other independent media outlets my primary sources for the next years of the Musk shit show. I hope people flock to these pro-Democracy media outlets and flee the corporate media who are morphing into state media.
“Malevolent goober,” maybe. But your suggestion of the baseline description is perfect.
You are right, it is Matthew, not Mark. Whatever his name, he’s an arrogant prick. Changing…
We may need an oligarchy to help CA if Repubs are going to play games with disaster money. On the other hand, Gov. Abbot is getting help with the disastrous school voucher program from his rich buddies. Let’s not become Russia.
Re: Marcy Wheeler’s detailing of what Merrick Garland was doing which would have prepared for the Felon’s prosecution for the insurrection
All that was well and good. But now, it’s too late.
OK, I’ll bite: WTF, Gavin?
RIP Jimmy Carter : Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) joined with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) in directing U.S. flags at the state Capitol in Sacramento be raised to full height….
(My only guess is that this is a ‘cheap’ way to curry favor with TCF for disaster relief for CA. )
Re: the Felon’s crimes of stealing and mishandling classified defense documents:
The ghost of Wen Ho Li is sadly shaking his head.
We don’t need an oligarchy, because now and back then showed the cost of allowing one to take root.
What America needs is an actual progressive voting base who aren’t caught up in weird political s**t.
While Cannon’s antics may seem like a sideshow at the moment, I am reminded by her demand to see Vol 2 of the Jack Smith report of two Cannon facts:
- There was no case before her in which she should have issued the stay of the issuance of Vol 2 of the report in the first place, let alone Vol 1. And that’s the only reason tomorrow’s hearing is happening.
- There is no real complaint that would lead to her being reprimanded for her state of mind that she doesn’t trust the DOJ, with it’s accompanying implication that DOJ, their motives and their litigation process are not to be trusted.
I agree with those who want the Biden/Garland DOJ to do whatever they need to do to secure the release of the report before Trumpworld has the opportunity to deep six it.
