Blunt Thinks It’s ‘Too Early’ To Form Jan. 6 Commission As Bill Moves To Senate | Talking Points Memo

However, when asked about having another Benghazi hearing, Blunt was quite enthusiastic.

But it only if it covered Whitewater, too

I think the ball is really going to start rolling once the prosecutions of the indicted insurrectionists begin. They’ll be providing all kinds of damning info as they try to save their treasonous asses.

Umm, you say he “quipped”? You mean he was joking ? Could you please edit the first sentence of the post to say whatever it is you really meant to say? At least as you quote him, and as everyone’s reacting, it doesn’t sound like a “quip”.

I agree. I was thinking about that earlier. None of this is going away by any means - it all stands to get much worse for the GOP when the trials start.

We actually found a cat on Petfinder.com. If I ever want a human who has no sense of where and when to take care of his personal hygiene, wants to be petted and praised all the time, demands to be fed at inconvenient times, sheds constantly, and who doesn’t cover his poop, I’ll go to that other website.
(In defense of the cat, he isn’t as bad as you know who would be.)

From the article…

“Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) on Sunday quipped that it’s “too early” to create an independent commission to probe the deadly Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, following the House’s passage of the bill for the commission’s formation that now faces an uphill battle in the 50-50 Senate.”
… … …
Good to know that 5 dead (no matter which side they’re on) are worth a quip.

With the added bonus of “If we do eventually allow it, nothing will happen anyway.”

Hard to believe, given the success of his vodka/steak/academy/casinos/_____.

This is hilarious. Senate Republicans cannot decide on a talking point in order to justify a no vote or a filibuster for the Jan. 6 Commission. They are all paralyzed by fear of what a bipartisan group will learn and report because they all know deep down the emperor of MaraLago is in it up to his chins.

C’mon, man. Everyone knows that the later you start an investigation, the more chance of success. The last time a member of the Blunt family went missing and the cops showed up at his door, he said, “Now, hang on, fellas. Let’s think this through. Why don’t you come back in 3 months and we’ll see if the kidnapper hasn’t turned himself in by then.”

I dunno… maybe some serious anarchy would change Mr Blunt’s mind about trump and the crazy folk who are devoted to him. Anarchy. … you know…something Q inspired… like an insurrection.
Then again maybe nothing will change his mind

Yup. 50 different Republicans with 50 different excuses, many of them inherently contradictory, but all leading to a big fat NO.

Which is actually my preferred outcome so Democrats can dispense with the niceties, and do a real investigation.

If it appears Republicans haven’t thought this through, you would be right. After all, they’re just following the lead of the former guy, but forever idiot. The guy who recklessly fired Comey, only to land a two year Mueller investigation.

Well, if the first one didn’t make a dent in his beliefs, I’m not sure another one would.

I’m just surprised he didn’t offer the requisite “thoughts and prayers”.

“Too Early”?

WTF does that mean?

Maybe it’s too late - like way past your bedtime, not to be too blunt, there, Mista Blunt.
