Blunt Baselessly Suggests Justice Thomas Disagrees With Wife

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), a top Senate Republican set to retire this year, on Sunday struggled to explain his opposition to Justice Clarence Thomas’ recusal from Jan. 6-related cases after revelations of Thomas’ wife’s pro-coup texts.

That wording suggests that Thomas has recused himself. I don’t think he has.

“I think the notion that a judge can’t disagree with his wife on a public matter has outlived its usefulness.” Why doesn’t the interviewer promptly respond “That’s a straw man. The judge’s wife is an active and influential partisan on this matter, and she’s getting paid for her partisan activities. Now that we’ve set aside your straw man, let me repeat the question.”

It seems the mainstream media can’t/won’t call these people even on the most elementary forms of bullshit.

“writings over the years” is overly generous. Cite one Senator Blunt you pathetic pedantic putz. Just one.

If only. Sometimes it seems like these “journalists” are anything but.

That’s a good catch.

The ruling was 8-1. Why didn’t he simply recuse when there was no chance his vote would matter - except, of course, as a giant “fuck you?”

As I pointed out the other day, we’re supposed to believe that an extremely partisan Activist who shows no compunction about lobbying the President of the United States to commit a Felony has no influence whatsoever on her own husband, who just happens to be an Associate Justice.

Yeah, it’s just pure coincidence and had absolutely nothing to do with wifey at all.

Anybody have any idea who believes this tripe, because I’d like to have their names: I have a bridge I’d like sell…

Thomas has a victim complex, and as a result he has been doing the “fuck you” thing ever since he was seated on the SCOTUS bench.

Real men are never influenced by the women-folk. It’s a sign of weakness.

The claim for not pushing is that they don’t want to lose access to Republicans. Well then I don’t think Blunt will be showing up on Newsmax or OAN anytime soon, so why not push?

They listen to her because of who her husband is,

Justice Thomas has had plenty of time to explain his position on his wife’s activities.
The fact that he has remained silent throughout the revelations about her tells us everything we need to know, full stop.

Yeah, if it weren’t for him and them wanting to cozy up to him, they’d all be out of the office whenever she called or came by.

Instances of conflict of interest where judges are concerned are usually limited to the mere appearance of a conflict of interest.

What’s happening here is an actual Supreme Court vote, by an actual Justice whose wife has been implicated in actions which are being investigated by the two other branches of government. What has come out since that vote, is that his wife was talking to him about her actions to help keep Trump in power, long BEFORE that vote.

She may even be implicated in the resulting coverup.

By voting to block those records, he was very likely trying to assist his own wife in keeping out of legal trouble. At least some of those documents would pertain to her actions leading up to and including Jan6.

She was chins-deep in the insurrection.

I’m not sure why the Supreme Court Justices are held to a lower standard than some lowly county court judge.

They should be held to a much HIGHER standard.

You’d think they’d at least send out a lawyer to try to confuse a simple point about legal ethics. I bet Ted Cruz would have thrown in so many “notwithstanding the foregoings” and “provided, however, thats” that anyone trying to follow him would just give up.

Cannot be repeated enough. This man has multiple grudges, and plenty of occasions to express them.

Nancy Pelosi was right.

The abominable way in which Brett Kavanaugh behaved in his Confirmation was a gateway to more Thomas-level jurisprudence.

When one has to depend on John Roberts as a voice of moderation you’re really in trouble.

This “a rotten judge/senator/president is fine as long as he’s our guy” shit seems like it will never stop, and it probably never will. They switch off from Ginni Thomas—meh, to Hunter Biden, OMFG in the same breath. And her emails!

I’d love to see Judge Brown Jackson’s husband announce he’s forming a PAC to raise money for BLM activities right after she’s sworn in. Just to watch Mitch’s head explode.
