A “Black Lives Matter” banner hanging in front of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul was reportedly taken down after it was brought to the attention of President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
As the young boy screamed and clutched on to his father, Hreha caught it all on camera. He confronted the officer he believed had maced the boy and told him the footage was going online. He then posted it on social media.
The footage captures the outrage of protesters who demand to know why police maced a child, and made no attempt to help.
Since then, Hreha has been arrested and spent two days in jail for what some are calling police retribution for a video which went viral. The young boy is still traumatized, reeling from the chemical burn on his cheek and asking his parents what he did to deserve it.
he ordered the removal of the “Black Lives Matter” banner “to avoid the misperception that American taxpayer dollars were spent to benefit such organizations.”
bullshit. it was ordered taken down because it conflicts with the message the abomination sends to his base (the only americans he cares about. or at least he cares about their votes and adulation).
I suppose that losing 92% of the black vote in 2016 was not good enough for Trump. With this move, perhaps we will see the percentage get closer to 100%.
It is the photograph that has captured a hopeful, valiant, precise moment in a divided Britain — a powerfully built Black Lives Matter protester, a personal trainer and a grandfather, hoisting an injured far-right demonstrator onto his shoulder to rescue him from a violent scrum near Waterloo Bridge.
From Saturday’s melee in central London emerged Patrick Hutchinson, a black Briton, hailed as savior, carrying a white man, with shaved head and cut-off jeans, onto his shoulders in a fireman’s lift.
Isn’t that great picture? Possible this is a ‘come-to-Jesus-moment’ for the ‘skinhead’. I would hope, when he is put down, he has a different view of the world. Kudos to his rescuer of course.
With no transparency, we no longer have much of an idea what the State Department is up to. Pompeo and Esper were out on the road selling weapons systems last autumn. I imagine a giant termite infestation in all government institutions, hollowing, gutting, breaking down structural integrity built over generations. We can get side-tracked on these little PR fights, but the fact is that the US is diplomatically a) pitiable, b) pathetic, c) craven, or d) a joke. Pompeo has no gravitas, which is why he is perfect for his termite role.
