White House COVID-19 task force member Dr. Deborah Birx urged governors to increase testing for COVID-19 during a private call on Monday, even as President Donald Trump moves to pull the plug on federally funded local testing sites.
āHopefully I have left you with the impression that increased testing is good,ā Birx told the governors, per the Daily Beast. āWe would like to even see it even more.ā
These WH Task Force folks could do something like call their own press conference w/out Trump and Pence and say we have to dramatically ramp up testing now b/c itās bad. Instead, they do this behind the scenes stuff which Trump always squashes and that results in more people dying and more people out of work.
. Birx stood there while trump recommended injecting/drinking bleach. Her ethical requirements required her to step in to prevent harm⦠she stood there mute.
History will forever judge her as a Trumpist bool-licker, and no number of āleaksā by her will restore her reputation.
Itās really amazing that Trump sees less testing as a winning point, I canāt imagine anyone but the most diehard Trump supporters fooled into thinking the virus is a hoax getting behind that. It just makes him seem out of touch with reality and lacking concern for the health of Americansā¦how that translates into a win in November is pretty much impossible to imagine. If this really is campaign strategy then they are going to lose badly as they double down on this nonsenseā¦if itās just Trump then eventually the Republicans will abandon him in an attempt to save themselves, though the longer they wait the less likely they will be able to do it.
The other thing is that this bodes well for having a functional government soon after Biden takes over, at least some parts of it are trying to do their jobs despite the deficient leadership and active interference in anything that will help Americans. With the right leaders installed, most of the civil service will dive back into making the government work, and thatās a good thing for all of us.
Letās not create an issue where one doesnāt exist. Are those testing sites still needed. Most Urgent Care facilities have tests readily available. In my town we have a lot of testing going on but the sites set up in the local parks and other outdoor spaces arenāt being used that much. The issue here is test processing.
Once again ā Fauci said in todayās hearing that we need to ramp up testing more than where we are now. None of the experts on the panel are disagreeing. Itās not exactly behind the scenes when the House committee hearing is being held live on the front page of the WaPo and NYT web sites.
Here in Austin you need to schedule an appointment and wait in a long line for the drive thru tests. Believe it or not, things in your town donāt necessarily reflect the way things are everywhere. Maybe it depends on how quickly you reopened.
Austin never fully shut down and now everyoneās acting like itās over. Thatās why Iām home with a fever because my boss thought it was a hoax until he got it and passed it on to us. I might sign up for a test if I feel good enough to go out.
Okā¦let me get out my pen and try to write this downā¦
Testing = Good. And I guess I should cross out āInject bleachā here, and ātake obscure lupus drugsā thereā¦These positions are hard to keep up with.
In what way is pointing out that higher testing reveals more cases a serious point? Seriously obvious? What is the point being made? Besides the obvious demonic one that if Trump canāt get himself reelected then he is going to commit murder-suicide?
