It looks as though this is the only way that “bipartisanship” could have gone down…and it’s going down.

This seems right to me as things stand with the GOPers now. It reminds me of a bus line in Mexico from my days there back in the '80s–it had such a horrible safety record that the running joke was that its motto was, “Better dead than late.”

Outside of immigrants and some people (like the Military, some journalists, etc) who have been exposed to conditions abroad, too many people are blase about the GOP hurtling us toward Third World Status.

There is breathtaking obliviousness of the opportunity at hand with a Biden presidency. It’s mostly on the Right, but not all of it.

“Pay fors” are only a problem if the ones doing the paying are the rich. (In the eyes of Repubs)

The irony is, as I understand it, most of the bill will fund programs and structures that will ultimately save money…OR help the country be more profitable in the future.

Once again, Repubs have the emotional maturity of a 12-year-olds. They only care about the immediate future.

Governance is much more dull than the expression of raw emotion, the calling card of the GOP. We understand that.

What is not understood–especially by Republican voters–is the future ahead of us if the GOP succeeds in its objectives.

Meanwhile, the stock market is crashing this morning due to (wait for it) the rapid spread of the Delta variant.

Thanks, anti-vaxxers!

Which is truly idiotic since, if you’re among the vaccinated and wear a mask, you have very little to worry about.

There has been surprisingly little outcry considering this is a pretty politically toxic move — Republicans are potentially sinking the bipartisan deal by nixing one of its biggest payfors in service of the extremely rich.

Nah – not surprising when you understand that all low-income Republicans are future billionaires because reasons/bootstraps/prosperity gospel.

I suspect it’s a combo of both. Extensive interviews have mentioned Delta, but it seemed there might be more. Thanks.
