Can you even culture war, bro?

Wait. This is what cancel culture means? Getting rid of racist hagiographic commemorations? I proudly support it!

Republicans making hand-waving gestures towards preserving monuments to racism is just the conservative version of racist virtue-signaling. They’re trying to preserve their racist supporters.

“Fizzled”
Appropriately after Tennessee lawmakers witnessed the Georgia backlash.

Perhaps some members of the GOP are discovering that “There’s no such thing as bad publicity” isn’t a truism after all.

How long before the bust is gone?

‘Cancel culture’ is just GQP-speak for ‘Stop celebrating slave-owners and American losers’. And they’re clearly against that.

Keep the bust where it is. Dress it up with the hood below, add the historical explanation of the hood’s presence, what the people who wore such hoods did, the support those people got from the rest of their communities, and the modern methods by which the descendants of the hood wearers continue to achieve some of the same goals.

Let’s see how much they like having uncancelled culture in their faces when they arrive at work.

NOTHING promotes racial harmony like a tribute to the founder of the KKK.

Wait!

“The bust, installed in 1978,”

You mean that more than 100 years after the Civil War, TN decided that this was a person to be honored with a bust in the state capitol?

Uh-huh. After the Civil Rights Act had been passed and official desegregation was in full swing. Nothing suspicious about that.

Beautiful.

We’re living in Ignorant Times, a dose of historical reality can only help.

Maybe have a display showing how horrible lynching really is maybe showing an actual klan lynching in full hooded display to connect Forrest to the klan lynchings?

Maybe, but it was still too close for comfort:

to send it to summer study, which succeeded in the 4-3 vote.

Way too many people who would come to celebrate that.

Or is it that racists gravitate towards the Republican Party?
