Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday that his department is in the process of launching a War on Terror-style campaign against progressive nonprofits. “Charlie’s death is like a domestic 9/11,” Bessent said. “Just as after 9/11, and Osama bin Laden, the ultimate culprit, was captured, we are operationalizing the Treasury, and we are going…
They arrested their suspect in the Kirk murder. Ask him where he got his funding.
Shouting Fire in a Crowded Theater. All this would not be possible without Fox News. If Someone is killed due to them calling this weekend a “Hate America Rally” then I think a move to get them off the air through the courts is not an infringement on free speech. So what happens when you shout fire in a crowded theater? Inconvenience, maybe loss of money or some people get trampled or killed. Using a cable news network to promote hate in a volatile world is dangerous. It’s not free speech by definition.
I’m sick and tired of hearing the rage-bait soundbites the administration’s toadies spout off in their safe spaces. These cowards are gleeful about yelling into their echo chambers but cower at speaking anywhere their fascist ideology would face any real feedback. At best they’ll go on the Sunday shows to deny the barely veiled sub-text, but with their next breath call the host biased for asking, which inevitably results in no further questions.
Bessent should be worrying about how he’ll stem the bleeding when the AI ouroboros dies, but instead he’s bailing out Milei and inventing left-wing terror cells to distract from the very real billionaire-funded right-wing political extremist networks.

I’ll grasp at anything to maintain sanity, but I do think it’s interesting that you can look at comments like this both ways.
You have the R fascists looking to flex and punish with power, but I’m choosing to believe that these are Rs that understand how right wing activism works.
It all comes down through the billionaires that fund the PACs or own the media. It is entirely possible that they can’t believe that people collectively would respond this way on their own, and the paranoia of a left wing zillionaire is rotting their brains.
To say that I hate each and every one of these people would be a vast understatement. This is not an administration, it’s a criminal gang. They are busy hollowing out the U.S. government so private equity funds will be able to run rampant, with little or no regulation. Worst. President. Ever. (Bush/Cheney breathe sighs of relief.)
Tim Snyder has a video in which he draws a parallel between the trumpers going after “Antifa” and the Nazis going after the social democrats. There is no such organization as Antifa in the US. The social democrats were a party in 1930s Germany but were not engaged in any kind of terrorism.
The ascendant authoritarian party needs an “enemy of the people” to suppress political and cultural opposition. If the government doesn’t have actual physical opposition, it manufactures it.
Right now, the plan is to destroy any legitimate nonprofit that opposes the trumpistas – maybe remove their nonprofit status.
While this story is scary, it in no way hurts or otherwise prevents Donald Trump and his minions like Scott Bessent from attacking our democracy.
A story that will hurt Trump and Bessent is there stealing $20,000,000,000.00 to bailout hedge fund billionaires who under Trump and Bessent pressure bet heavily on Argentina, something no competent finance person would do given Argentina’s history of defaulting and the failed history of its current economic policies.
That is while many if not most Americans don’t give a damn about Trump persecuting anyone and especially Democrats, giving $20,000,000,000.00 to a foreign country to bail out hedge fund billionaires is something many of them do care about.
9/11 occurred during Shrubya’s first term. bin Laden was “captured” (if that’s what raiding his compound and then whisking away his corpse and tossing it in the ocean is called) happened during Obama’s second term. Now these goons want to “track down who is responsible” for what, exactly? And on what timeline?
US lost the War on Drugs and struggled mightily for most of the Global War on Terror, so them invoking this framing is sadly hilarious.
Fuck this smirking rich man. When the Trump Regime falls, he goes to jail.

True this. Moreover, the World Bank and the IMF has stated unequivocally it won’t give Argentina’s current government another red cent.
The Republican Party, that expressed outrage over lack of sensitivity to Charlie Kirk death is not outraged about comments from future Republican Party leaders that, in writing, agreed with the regime that killed 9.5 million Jews from 1933 to 1945.
F-ck the entire Republicans Party.
Through statements like this, the Republicans Party tells us over and over that they actually are Nazis.

Yeah, because she shoots the puppies in the face. We don’t know where she shoots the people; it may be in a less horrifying area. (or not)
Also too both Bessent and the hedge funder they’re bailing out in Argentina worked for Soros firm. Maybe how they met.
