Though the House ultimately failed to hold a vote on President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better plan in the reconciliation package and the bipartisan infrastructure bill (BIF) on Thursday, Democrats are geared up to vote on both today.
Every day that T**** is no longer running this country into the ground is a big day. Passing BBB, BIF, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act will only make it better days.
The question on delay in the House is whether or not you trust Manema to come through on the BBB if you’ve already passed the BIF into law, and thus your only leverage point.
Pelosi Working On Resolving Moderates’ CBO Sticking Point
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is currently focused on getting centrist Democrats on board
Misnomers. Vidkun Quisling was not a “moderate” on the question of capitulating to Nazi control of Norway. Benedict Arnold was not a “centrist” on whether the revolution he was thought to be fighting for ought to succeed. There are better words for what these people are doing.
I am with you. I don’t trust either of them, but I do know that the billionaire class who owns them really want the BIB so the only leverage the house has to get SineMan on board is to hold the BIB hostage.
These so called Centrists are bought and paid for. So sad for the people they represent. The Democratic Party has not been the same since LBJ. There needs to be a house keeping.

As someone (my apologies) here mentioned yesterday, it was Manchin’s idea to separate the two bills. He wants nothing to do with Biden’s BBB and if the BIF is passed first by itself, Manchin will look the president in the eye and ask, “do you want me to work on your BBB bill now or finish the Voting Rights Act first? Sen Klobuchar and I are almost done with it.”
And then he’ll have his little no questions press conference get together and ask " isn’t 1.2 Trillion enough for now" , followed by “it’s never enough for progressives”, blah, blah, and blah.
["Biden To Make Calls To The Capitol This Afternoon
The President announced during his presser just now, that he would be heading back to his office to hop on the phone with lawmakers as part of his effort to get the two bills passed in the House today.
Biden didn’t take questions after he was done speaking."]
You mean “House Cleaning”? In LBJ’s time, there were GOP votes for progressive bills. Those folks would be Dems now and the “Dems” who didn’t vote for those bills would be in the GQP now.
Which might be better in the mid run. But in the long run, hard to say. We need to modernize a lot of things in this country, the grid, healthcare delivery, the environment, the tax code, and so on, BBB may not really solve a lot of those problems, or not provide actually good solutions.
Voting Rights Act might help build a real Pos-i-Train of Democratic votes that expands the House and sweeps away any need for those two to have any say in anything that happens in this country going forward. They had their time on the stage, time to shuffle off, losers.
