Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden called for national unity while delivering remarks at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, as he disavowed political division in the grueling final weeks leading up to the November presidential election.
The presidency is an elective office, but it is also a moral focal point for the leadership of the Nation as a whole. With this speech and the one VP Biden gave following POTUS Trump’s unfortunate contracting of the coronavirus in Michigan, Biden is already assuming the role of our most important moral leader in our country.
Leadership is the most rare and precious substance on Earth. It is refreshing to feel it wash over us again. The people will speak in less than a month. Our need for moral leadership is obvious and Joe Biden is ready to fulfill it if we give him a chance. Let’s all do our best to get Joe into the office he deserves and to provide the political and moral leadership we and the rest of the world so desperately need.
Anybody whose first jump-in-front-of-the-queue comment is a takedown of Joe Biden is giving aid and comfort to the enemy, and oughta take a fucking seat.
Love ya Joe, but the only way back to “not divided” is going to be stamping down the violence done to us and finally beating down and subjugating white Christian supremacy nonsense in this country like a runaway daughter-wife. These people need punishment. Yeah, they do. Suck it if you think they don’t. They absolutely must be punished and brought as low as possible, broken and only permitted re-entry into society after they are forcefed a merciless comeuppance for the ages. NMNQ
Doc, I hope you weren’t referring to me! I love Joe Biden. I just thought it was amusing that Trump is trying to make people scared about environmental protection, less gun violence, and rebuilding the high wall separating church and state, all things I’d love to see.
Take note America. Some may have forgotten what Presidential looks like. There you have it. It’s that kind of verve that will catapult the Biden/Harris team to victory and generate more votes to take over both Houses. Love it!
I kind of agree. In order to not be a “house divided,” we have to call out those actively working against America.
If I were Joe, I’d meet with the Lincoln Project and Republicans Against Trump and ask them to be a part of this. They have no fucks to give personally, and they have real skin in this game because they claim to love this country and want Democracy to live on. Give them room to mercilessly attack Trumpism.
TLP and their ilk believe in the Republican Party, one that is fiscally conservative, smaller government, etc. Let them put a big fucking light on the Trump enablers, who have destroyed their beloved party, in Congress and run them out on a rail.
If TLP wants to destroy Trumpism, as they claim, then let them.
I listened to Joe’s speech while driving on outer county roads on this beautiful day here, it was wonderfully soothing. I’ve been crazy busy lately and it was so nice to just chill and drive along a pretty road and hear Joe speak so sensibly and inspiring.
How does Biden lead in Pennsylvania Polls when he is against Fracking (JOBS!), 2nd Amendment and Religion? Fake Polls. I will win Pennsylvania!
The only people who’d be upset that Biden doesn’t support fracking (whether he does or doesn’t is irrelevant) are people in the fracking industry. No one else cares. The 2nd Amendment fear tactic I think is finally losing its strength and it’s just laughable to claim Biden is against religion. These attack lines appeal to no one outside of his hardcore base.
The problem wasn’t “division”, it was slavery. Similarly, “division” isn’t the problem today either. It only looks like the problem if you’re detached enough from the problems that people are divided over.
I agree with you completely. However, this is exactly the right tone Joe should be striking. Let’s face it, there are untold millions of Americans who just want everybody to get along and be united again. They don’t understand that we haven’t ever really been united and that some of us aren’t going back to the second class citizenship that allowed them to feel like we were united. So, this type of speech makes people feel good, but I agree with you. We can’t unite until some serious wrongs have been righted and that’s going to take awhile.
